The EliteBook 2730p is a Tablet PC designed for those who want the touch-screen format that this laptop style offers, along with a stylish overall design. It doesn't come cheap, with the starting price over a thousand pounds and rising to eighteen hundred before VAT, depending on your choice of model. Design-wise this is a lovely Tablet PC with super build quality and a splendid keyboard. Internal specifications are adequate, but the lack of expansion ports and absence of an optical drive are major drawbacks.

An expensive 3G laptop, but delivers high quality, as well as excellent usability. HP's EliteBook 2730p is aimed at corporate users with a big budget, providing them with premium materials and impressive mobility. It stands out by virtue of its digitised display, and the screen swivels 180 degrees to allow use as a Tablet PC. Delivering strong performance and better than average mobility, the EliteBook 2730p is as good a Tablet PC as we've come across. There aren't as many features as we would like to see for the money, but it remains a high-quality, stylish and functional laptop.

Solid performance, battery life, and business traveler–friendly features make this convertible a good pick. The HP EliteBook 2730p offers strong performance and endurance with a well-rounded feature set and a good pen experience. Its $1,599 price is very competitive, considering the Lenovo ThinkPad X200 Tablet starts at $1,884 and the Dell Latitude XT costs north of $1,700. However, we wished it had a faster hard drive and the ability to recognize finger inputs. If you’re seeking a sleek, durable business tablet with basic pen capabilities, the EliteBook 2730p is the right choice.

If an ultraportable tablet is in your future, you should give HP’s EliteBook 2730p serious consideration, but you should also take a close look at Toshiba’s Portégé M750-S7202. The Toshiba unit has better performance hands down and touch capability. The 2730p has its advantages, too: longer battery life, a better, more sophisticated design, a slimmer chassis, lighter weight, a better Webcam, Windows XP, and a plethora of security features; it also costs $250 less. Plus, it’s highly durable. In the end, we think these elements give the 2730p the edge, especially for business professionals who need the best in security.

Overall the EliteBook 2730p is a very nice evolution of the 2710p and the tablet in general. It doesn’t have an optical drive, but past that it has everything you would expect from a high-end ultraportable, plus all the smart little things that manufacturers are throwing in tablets these days. Users will loves the looks and appreciate the construction, as well as the solid performance and scalable battery life. As tablets go, this is one the most competitive in the field today. As ultraportables go, it’s a solid offering but I still have my eye on HP’s 2530p.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD: Scheda grafica intregrata basata sul chipset GM45 (Montevina). Più performante rispetto alla vecchia GMA X3100 grazie ha due shader in più ed ad un clock più elevato. Rimane, comunque, non consigliata per i giocatori più incalliti. Il processore video integrato è capace di codificare video HD (AVC/VC-2/MPEG2). Ad esempio permette la riproduzione di video HD compatibile con i requisiti del logo Blu-Ray, con il supporto nativo per unità Blu-Ray.

Soltanto i giochi datasi possono essere giocati in modo fluido con questi chips grafici (se non richiedono troppe prestazioni). I cores con memoria grafica condivisa in questa categoria hanno il vantaggio delle minori emissioni di calore e della maggiore autonomia della batteria. Per ufficio, internet, image processing, e video editing queste schede grafiche sono utilizzabili senza particolari problematiche.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Questo è il successore del Core Duo e del Core Solo con una pipeline più lunga ed il 5-20% di velocità in più senza avere maggiore consumo di energia. Come aggiunta al design del Core Duo esiste un quarto decoder, una unità amplificata SSE ed una unità logica aritmetica (ALU) addizionale. Il Core 2 Duo per portatili è identico al processore per desktop Core 2 Duo ma il processore per portatili lavora con un voltaggio inferiore (0.95 a 1188 Volt) ed un Frontside bus clock inferiore (1066 vs 667 MHz). Le prestazioni di portatili con clock equivalenti sono inferiori del 20-25% rispetto ai PCs Desktop a causa del Frontside bus clock inferiore e agli hard disks più lenti.

SL9400: CPU a basso voltaggio e risparmio energetico che sfrutta una ampia Level 2 Cache da 6MB. Di conseguenza, le prestazioni sono migliori rispetto alle altre Core 2 Duo da 1.86 GHz (che hanno in genere 1-3MB di Level 2 Cache).
