Il Dell Inspiron 17R è un notebook ideale per le famiglie e dal buon rapporto qualità-prezzo. Molto interessante il grande display da 17 pollici con retroilluminazione LED supportato da una buona scheda grafica. Da sottolineare anche la capienza dell’hard disk, la quantità di RAM, il Bluetooth e il Wi-Fi.

Finally, this is also the only machine in this group to include Microsoft Works software, providing a range of basic home office tools to let you get to work immediately. A six-month subscription to McAfee SecurityCenter software is also included for online security. If it weren't for its poor battery, the Inspiron 17R would have been a clear candidate for an award this month. Its stunning screen and cutting-edge power make it a great choice, but the improved mobility of the Apple and Samsung push it into third place this time around.

Dell's Inspiron 17R is a slimmed down desktop replacement that provides a more compact and lightweight design. This high end model comes equipped with a higher resolution display and Blu-ray drive. At $1000, there are less expensive Blu-ray equipped systems or models with better graphics for gaming. It does a decent job of being a good general purpose desktop replacement without costing too much.

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470:

Ridurre la distanza delle Schede Grafiche per gli utenti che vogliono utilizzare il videogiochi. I nuovi giochi dovrebbero funzionare su queste schede, ma con riduzione dei dettagli e risoluzione mediocre.

Intel Core i5:

430M: Il Core i5-430M è una CPU dual core di media classe che sfrutta solo 3 MB di L3 Cache (rispetto alla I7-640M) ed ha un clock tra 2.26-2.53 GHz (Turbo Mode). Inoltre, nella 430M mancano VT-d, trusted Execution e funzioni AES. Grazie all'Hyperthreading, possono essere gestiti 4 threads contemporaneamente. Nel pacchetto sono incluse anche una scheda grafica integrata (Intel HD Graphics da 500-733 MHz) ed un controller memoria DDR3.

I portatili DTR non sono facili da trasportare, richiedono molta più energia ma in compenso i testi possono essere letti facilmente e le risoluzioni elevate non sono problematiche. I DTR sono principalmente destinati ad un utilizzo stazionario da scrivania, dove il peso ed i consumi non sono rilevanti.
