On paper the Dell Inspiron 13z has a lot going for it: it's keenly priced, performs well and has an integrated optical drive where others have none. It has several problems, though, primary among them being a somewhat dull, slightly tacky chassis. It wouldn’t take much to make it a machine worth recommending, but at the moment it's merely worth thinking about.

The price of Inspiron 13z that we reviewed sells for Rs. 45,000. The price for the base model starts at Rs. 38,000. If you compare 13-inch ULV models, the Acer Timeline 3810TZ sells for around Rs. 32,000. Dell's own Vostro V13 sells for a shade under Rs. 40,000. But what both these models lack is a DVD drive, which, as we stated earlier, could be the ultimate reason why people aren't buying these models. This is the Insprion 13z's trump card, the reason it is set apart from other models in the market today. Regarding the pricing, we wish the base model price drops down by around 3,000 bucks, then we'd call it a sweet buy.

For some the performance of this machine would not justify its Rs. 45,000 price. On the other hand, consider that not all ultra-portables feature discrete graphics, an optical drive, a 250 GB hard drive and 4 GB RAM. Also, ergonomically, not all of them are comfortable to use. While there’s no doubt that this one is slightly overpriced, it is a good balance of performance, features and ergonomics.

It is clear from our testing today that Dell really did their homework before building the Inspiron 13z and they have taken feedback from the community and addressed a number of issues which are generally problems within the smaller sized laptop market. Firstly they opted for the faster Ultra Low Voltage processors instead of the ATOM and while these don't synthetically benchmark exceptionally high the real world conditions show massive improvements in responsiveness and overall usability. There is also a dual layer DVD burner included which is always an omission with a smaller, cheaper netbook.

NVIDIA GeForce G 105M: La Nvidia GeForce G105M è una GeForce 9300M G con clock superiore e pertanto si pone come una scheda DirectX 10 per portatili piccoli e sottili.
Rispetto alla 9300M G, la G 105M sfrutta solo 8 shaders cores. Per superare questo problema, ha una velocità clock superiore. Inoltre, integra il nuovo processore video VP3 (le 8400M, e 9300M G hanno un VP2) con pià features video e miglior supporto di decodifica video hd. 

Ridurre la distanza delle Schede Grafiche per gli utenti che vogliono utilizzare il videogiochi. I nuovi giochi dovrebbero funzionare su queste schede, ma con riduzione dei dettagli e risoluzione mediocre.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Questo è il successore del Core Duo e del Core Solo con una pipeline più lunga ed il 5-20% di velocità in più senza avere maggiore consumo di energia. Come aggiunta al design del Core Duo esiste un quarto decoder, una unità amplificata SSE ed una unità logica aritmetica (ALU) addizionale. Il Core 2 Duo per portatili è identico al processore per desktop Core 2 Duo ma il processore per portatili lavora con un voltaggio inferiore (0.95 a 1188 Volt) ed un Frontside bus clock inferiore (1066 vs 667 MHz). Le prestazioni di portatili con clock equivalenti sono inferiori del 20-25% rispetto ai PCs Desktop a causa del Frontside bus clock inferiore e agli hard disks più lenti.

13.3": Questo è in formato di display comune per i subnotebooks. Netbooks, UMPC ed alcuni subnotebooks hanno displays più piccoli. Tuttavia, la maggioranza dei portatili standard hanno formati superiori. Lo svantaggio è che la lettura di testi è estenuante per gli occhi. Risoluzioni elevate difficilmente potranno essere utilizzate.
