While the Satellite L755's keyboard looks and feels a little plastic, it does the job well. The keys are well sized, stretching the entire width of the chassis, and it's a quiet board so you won't disturb others when you're typing. We also liked the touchpad, which at first glance appears to be rather cramped but makes up for it with its sensitivity.

Computers that can play films from Blu-ray disc are getting cheaper and cheaper. Battery life was fair at around four hours in light use, though this will decrease when, say, watching a Blu-ray disc. In all, this is a good laptop for both working and home and entertainment, but it's a shame the 3D didn't live up to its billing.

The L755 fits the bill for a basic home computer but is uninspiring and ultimately tough to recommend because of its relatively high price. Its quality and feature set are as expected for a budget notebook and nothing more. The L755's highlights include a good keyboard and a decent set of speakers; it runs cool as well. It is fast enough for everything except 3D games. The only aspect of the L755 I truly didn't like was the glossy plastic; every visible inch of the notebook is covered. It may look good on a display shelf but fails the real world practicality test; cleaning it is a full-time job. There's a distinct lack of advanced ports (no USB 3.0); the touchpad buttons are also too noisy; lastly its 3.5-hour battery life is less than expected (we were looking for at least an hour more).

Don't let the Toshiba Satellite L755-S5258's low price fool you: This lapdop is a solid performer. Unfortunately, the rest of the design is not as solid--the notebook looks and feels cheap, the Function key, at least on our test unit, wouldn't work, and the trackpad is extremely small. All Toshiba has to do is make sure its parts are working and enlarge the trackpad (which should be easy--they had enough room for a number pad, after all), and the Satellite L755-S5258 would be an excellent budget machine.

At $599, the Toshiba Satellite L755-S5166 is a pretty good deal. You get a computer that boasts strong everyday performance, can actually play games such as "World of Warcraft," and lasts a pretty good amount of time on a charge. And with its brushed aluminum lid, the Satellite L755-S5166 isn't hard on the eyes, either. For $50 less, you can get a similarly configured HP Pavilion g6x, whose design we prefer over Toshiba's. But if you pick up the L755, you should be plenty satisfied.

Toshiba: Toshiba Corporation è un conglomerato o gruppo tecnologico giapponese. L'azienda è stata fondata nel 1939 e nel 1978 Toshiba è diventata il nome ufficiale dell'azienda. I prodotti e i servizi dell'azienda includono energia, sistemi di infrastrutture industriali e sociali, ascensori e scale mobili, componenti elettronici, semiconduttori, dischi rigidi, stampanti, batterie, illuminazione, logistica e tecnologia dell'informazione. Toshiba è stato uno dei maggiori produttori di personal computer, elettronica di consumo, elettrodomestici e apparecchiature mediche.

Soltanto i giochi datasi possono essere giocati in modo fluido con questi chips grafici (se non richiedono troppe prestazioni). I cores con memoria grafica condivisa in questa categoria hanno il vantaggio delle minori emissioni di calore e della maggiore autonomia della batteria. Per ufficio, internet, image processing, e video editing queste schede grafiche sono utilizzabili senza particolari problematiche.

Intel HD Graphics 3000: 3 imminenti (Q1 2011) schede grafiche integrate nel processore Intel Sandy Bridge (Core ix-2xxx). La 3000 / 200 è la versione più veloce internamente chiamata GT2 con 12 Execution Units (EUs).

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) HD Graphics:

Intel HD Graphics (Sandy Bridge): Scheda grafica integrata nei processori Sandy Bridge Pentium e Celeron. Simile alla desktop HD Graphics 2000 e non connessa con il vecchio processore grafico Arrandale che ha lo stesso nome.

La maggior parte dei giochi attuali può essere giocata in modo fluido. Ma preparatevi ad una riduzione delle presentazioni grafiche considerando le impostazioni di dettaglio basse e la risoluzione limitata. Tuttavia, queste schede forniscono ancora abbastanza potenza per le applicazioni da ufficio e la proiezioni di video (ma non per i video HD).

NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M: Basata sulla GeForce GT 425M con una velocità clock leggermente superiore.

Intel Core i3:

2310M: Processore dual-core basato sull'architettura Sandy Bridge con una scheda grafica integrata ed un controller di memoria dual-channel DDR3. La CPU ha un clock da 2.1 GHz e sfrutta il Turbo Boost 2.0 solo per la scheda grafica (650/1100MHz).
