Toshiba's Excite X10 remedies many of the problems of its predecessor the, Thrive 10, but we're not convinced it has what it takes to succeed when the majority of Android tablets struggle commercially. Performance is good, build quality is decent and it's light, but claims of superlative thinness ring hollow when other tabs are already painfully slim and the magnesium alloy finish doesn't have that premium metallic feel some buyers are after.

The filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson once wrote, "Everyone's born with one special thing." The Excite 10 LE has that one special thing. Its light and slim build stand out from the crowd of similar $450 tablets. But that isn't enough to overcome the competition. The Asus Transformer TF300 (Best Deal: $399.99 at P.C. Richard & Son) costs only $379, is just a wee bit thicker, and is much better for gaming thanks to its quad-core processor. The new Apple iPad (4.5 stars), at $499, has a far superior screen and a much broader library of tablet-centric applications. And Toshiba itself has the Excite 10 coming soon, with a quad-core processor in the same body for $500. That gives the Excite 10 LE a pretty slim niche in a crowded Android tablet market.

Although the Toshiba Excite 10 LE offers a sleek, slim design and solid performance, we couldn't look past the highly visible gridlines on the display, slow camera, and $529 price tag. The ASUS MeMO Pad HD 7 has an HD screen, double the storage, and much better endurance, for $40 less. While we appreciate the Excite 7's stock Android experience, its respectable battery life and powerful audio, there are better budget tablet bargains to be had.

The Toshiba Excite Write Tablet is a nice bit of kit, but in this crowded space it needs to be more than nice to stand out. At £450 without the keyboard case, it’s putting itself directly against the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 with its stylus and similar specs, and it’s a battle the Excite Write can’t quite win. The benchmarks and deeper stylus integration are both clear wins for the Note. If you dislike the Samsung UI, it’s a good alternative to the Note 10.1, but it won’t be most people’s first choice.

If you're considering the Write for its bundled active digitizer pen, I'd recommend going with the Galaxy Note 10.1 instead. Samsung's TouchWiz may seem bloated to many, but the multitasking and built-in pen support are far better than what Toshiba offers. If you're more interested in getting a taste of Nvidia's Tegra 4 power, Toshiba makes the Excite Pro, which is essentially the Write sans pen support for $100 less. For now, the Apple iPad remains our top pick for large-screen tablets, for its tried-and true design and its superior collection of tablet apps.

Toshiba: Toshiba Corporation è un conglomerato o gruppo tecnologico giapponese. L'azienda è stata fondata nel 1939 e nel 1978 Toshiba è diventata il nome ufficiale dell'azienda. I prodotti e i servizi dell'azienda includono energia, sistemi di infrastrutture industriali e sociali, ascensori e scale mobili, componenti elettronici, semiconduttori, dischi rigidi, stampanti, batterie, illuminazione, logistica e tecnologia dell'informazione. Toshiba è stato uno dei maggiori produttori di personal computer, elettronica di consumo, elettrodomestici e apparecchiature mediche.
Queste schede grafiche per portatili non sono adatte al gaming. Anche se dovessero funzionare, ci sarebbero diversi errori grafici e un frame rate molto basso. Questi chips non sono affatto per i gamers! Applicazioni internet e da ufficio, invece non sono problematiche per queste GPUs.

NVIDIA GeForce ULP (Tegra 3): Scheda grafica Ultra Low Power (ULP) integrata nel SoC Tegra 3. Simile alla GPU Tegra 2 ma con pixel shaders addizionali ed ottimizzazione.
Soltanto i giochi datasi possono essere giocati in modo fluido con questi chips grafici (se non richiedono troppe prestazioni). I cores con memoria grafica condivisa in questa categoria hanno il vantaggio delle minori emissioni di calore e della maggiore autonomia della batteria. Per ufficio, internet, image processing, e video editing queste schede grafiche sono utilizzabili senza particolari problematiche.
