Il nostro sample in test presenta la SKU più accessoriata, con Intel Core i7-1065G7, 32GB di RAM e 1TB di storage su SSD, oltre alla GPU dedicata Nvidia GeForce 1650 Max-Q, che su Amazon e sul sito Microsoft attualmente costa 3099 euro. È vero: non è un dispositivo economico ed il prezzo è certamente una delle note dolenti, ma in questo periodo la configurazione base costa meno di 1700 euro (anche su Amazon), un prezzo che potrebbe essere ulteriormente ribassato usufruendo dello sconto del 5% per studenti/insegnanti o aderendo alla campagna Trade-in. Dopotutto Surface Book 3 non è un 2-in-1 come tanti, ma uno dei pochi che vi permetterà di essere davvero produttivi anche in mobilità.

I pregi di questo SurfaceBook 3 sono sicuramente: potenza, 2 in 1 ben costruito, ottimo per renderizzare video e stabilità hardware – software. Per quanto riguarda i difetti menziono: il parallelismo di scarica delle due batterie, la retroilliuminazione della tastiera, il trackpad piccolo, il fatto che sul tablet ci sia solo la porta Surface e, su tutti, il prezzo veramente alto, soprattutto in un mondo Windows dove ci sono tante alternative.

Microsoft Surface Book 3 promises to bridge the gap between a traditional laptop and a tablet. But from experience, this approach hasn't usually worked out fine for either side. As much as possible, users prefer laptops with a justifiable screen real estate. Usually, a portable computing device that has a 12.5" to 14" screen is the sweet spot. However, those screen sizes aren't usually ideal for tablet PCs. Aside from the weight, the large handheld devices can be a pain to hold since most tablets are design to be held on one hand with the other hand taking care of touching the screen.

I've been a 13.5-inch Surface Book 2 owner since 2018. I love the thing because it has a combination of unique advantages, such as its 3:2 aspect ratio, discrete GPU options, and unique detachable screen, that you won’t find in any other laptop on the market. But those features brought with them a number of small (but glaring) flaws: a large and wobbly hinge, a limited port selection, and very visible bezels. If Microsoft fixed those, I thought the new Surface Book 3 could be a nearly perfect device.

Queste schede grafiche dovrebbero essere in grado di far funzionare tutti i giochi attuali con un framerates fluido ma rinunciando al livello di dettaglio massimo. Specialmente i giochi impegnativi come Crysis, Age of Conan, o Mass Effect sono utilizzabili soltanto con impostazioni grafiche ridotte. I giochi meno pesanti (e più datati), come Fifa 08, Command & Conquer 3, o Battlefield 2142 possono essere giocati con livello di dettagli più alto.
