La gamma di CPU Intel Alder Lake-HX riesce ad alzare l'asticella rispetto alle già potenti soluzioni Alder Lake-H, almeno per quanto riguarda il modello 12900HX: è sicuramente uno sviluppo interessante per un settore in cui gli utenti sono sempre più esigenti e non si accontentano di prestazioni dimezzate rispetto al mondo dei PC desktop. Certo, 12900K desktop adeguatamente raffreddato offre maggiori prestazioni, ma con prestazioni simili al 12700K questo 12900HX è un processore con i fiocchi.

It's worth thinking about whether you really need a laptop like the MSI Raider GE77, too. There's no doubting its performance, but you won't need an RTX 3080 Ti unless you want to run the toughest games at top settings. And while the i9-12900HX will brush aside any mobile workload, you can easily get away with a lesser Core i7 or Core i9 CPU for photo and video editing and lots of other work tasks. If you're happy to opt for an RTX 3070 Ti or a less extreme processor, you can save loads of cash on different GE77 specifications (a well balanced model goes down to $2,499) or several different Alienware x17 models. If you do need that level of performance, though, there's nothing like the MSI Raider GE77 – it outpaces rivals at no extra cost when their specifications are aligned.

This laptop is a beast. It’s faster than almost all of the other 17.3in notebooks we’ve tested. The screen has great gaming quality, the keyboard is receptive and robust, and MSI’s machine has loads of ports, super-fast connectivity and impressive build quality. It’s a bruiser too, though, with a thicker and heavier chassis than any competitor. It’s loud if you play challenging games. And at £3999, it’s enormously expensive. The Medion doesn’t have the class or speed of the MSI, but it costs £2699. An equivalent Alienware – with its quieter, slimmer design – is always cheaper, albeit without an identical display. Only the sleeker Razer is pricier. And while you can save money with MSI’s RTX 3070 Ti versions, they start at £2799 – so they’re still not cheap. This level of pace will always be expensive, though, and the MSI delivers more performance than any rival inside a robust and well-appointed chassis. This is the laptop equivalent of a muscle car – and for some people, that’s perfect.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Laptop GPU:

Scheda grafica di fascia alta per laptop basata sul chip Ampere GA103S. Al momento del lancio all'inizio del 2022, la 3080 Ti è la scheda grafica per laptop più veloce sul mercato.

Queste schede grafiche sono paragonabili alle entusiasmanti schede grafiche desktop, come la 9800M GT. Le schede hanno un core simile alle relative schede desktop, ma hanno un clock inferiore e spesso hanno processori con meno ombre. I giochi moderni come Age of Conan, Race Driver Grid, Call of Duty 4, Mass Effect, o Gothic 3 dovrebbero scorrere in modo fluido con dettagli elevati (Crysis dovrebbe funzionare con dettagli medio alti).
