The Lenovo T490 (official US product page) is designed as a business laptop, and it shows. It puts aside a lot of typical consumer product “wants,” such as a thin body and glam design in favor of incredibly flexible configuration options and a ton of ports to help you stay productive and dongle-free.

But other than that, the ThinkPad T490 is a workhorse that never let me down, just like Lenovo says it is. The T-series is the most popular ThinkPad line for a reason, and this is a great PC. I'd recommend buying a configuration with the same internals that Lenovo sent me. You might want to check out the PrivacyGuard FHD option for the display though, which is coming soon.

If you’re looking for an ultrabook but aren’t interested in the X Series and its new X390 model, the T490 is a nice substitute. Users enjoy a nice compromise between portability and performance, the model has a large variety of ports that drastically reduce the odds of needing a dongle, and the battery life, when paired with rapid charging, is adequate for most on-the-go work.

Starting at Rs 98,244, the ThinkPad T490 isn’t cheap. But for business users, the price won’t matter. The ThinkPad lineup always commands a high price, owing to its solid build and business-friendly features. I do think corporates would be ready to drop in a lakh on a notebook that is light and thin, has the best keyboard and offers strong performance along with a number of security features. Where the laptop lacks, and I think that’s critical to any organisation, is the lack of swappable battery and SSD storage option.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" dalla leggenda inglese, novo (latino) per nuovo) è stata fondata nel 1984 come società cinese di commercio di computer. Nel 2004, l'azienda era il più grande produttore di laptop in Cina e, dopo aver acquisito la divisione PC di IBM nel 2005, il quarto più grande al mondo. Oltre a desktop e notebook, l'azienda produce monitor, proiettori, server, ecc. ed è specializzata nello sviluppo, produzione e commercializzazione di elettronica di consumo, personal computer, software, soluzioni aziendali e servizi correlati.

Nel 2016, l'azienda si è classificata al primo posto al mondo nelle vendite di computer. Lo deteneva ancora nel 2023 con una quota di mercato globale di circa il 23%. Importanti linee di prodotti sono Thinkpad, Legion e Ideapad.

Nel 2011 ha acquisito una partecipazione di maggioranza in Medion AG, un produttore europeo di hardware per computer. Nel 2014 è stata acquistata Motorola Mobility, che ha dato a Lenovo una spinta nel mercato degli smartphone.
