We've previously looked at a laptop from Lenovo's Essential G series (the G570), and now it's time to check out the Essential B series. If you're unclear on the difference, Lenovo helpfully offers that the B series consists of "budget laptops for working at home or at the office," while the G series is described as "everyday laptops at a great price."

The large hard drive doesn’t compensate for the 5400rpm speed. There’s not even an option to upgrade. The B470 Essential’s fan ran quiet as a church mouse, and perhaps the coolness of the components contributed to a very impressive 6 hours 17 minutes on medium usage tasks (browsing, WiFi, Windows’ balanced power profile).

Intel HD Graphics 3000: 3 imminenti (Q1 2011) schede grafiche integrate nel processore Intel Sandy Bridge (Core ix-2xxx). La 3000 / 200 è la versione più veloce internamente chiamata GT2 con 12 Execution Units (EUs).

Soltanto i giochi datasi possono essere giocati in modo fluido con questi chips grafici (se non richiedono troppe prestazioni). I cores con memoria grafica condivisa in questa categoria hanno il vantaggio delle minori emissioni di calore e della maggiore autonomia della batteria. Per ufficio, internet, image processing, e video editing queste schede grafiche sono utilizzabili senza particolari problematiche.
