HUAWEI nova 9 è uno smartphone che si rivolge a un pubblico alla ricerca di un dispositivo distintivo, con alcune delle caratteristiche dei top di gamma a un prezzo però più competitivo, all'interno di un corpo rifinito e compatto. Insomma, uno smartphone dal design accattivante e leggero pensato prevalentemente per i giovani e per chi è alla ricerca di un dispositivo affidabile e performante in ogni circostanza. C'è una chiara somiglianza con HONOR 50, questo è indubbio, ma il midrange di HUAWEI viene proposto a un prezzo più appetibile e qualche miglioria hardware (ad esempio la fotocamera posteriore). Mancano i GMS, ma questo è un problema solo per i power-user dei servizi Google, come già detto. Chi può farne a meno può trovare in HUAWEI nova 9 un device sicuramente concreto e affidabile, una fra le migliori soluzioni nella sua fascia di prezzo.

Huawei Nova 9 arriva sul mercato italiano al prezzo di 499,90 Euro. Sicuramente una cifra poco competitiva dato che la fascia media, soprattutto negli ultimi mesi, si è arricchita di numerosi prodotti validi. Si tratta sicuramente un prodotto rivolto agli appassionati del brand che, per quasi troppo tempo, hanno aspettato novità interessanti. Chi lo acquista deve ovviamente essere consapevole che, così come negli ultimi due anni, mancano di fatto alcuni punti fermi nel software intenso come i servizi di Google e che, al loro posto, ci sono i servizi di Huawei che seppur crescano e amplino rapidamente, sono ancora carenti sotto alcuni punti di vista. Resta però un fattore rilevante: il mercato mobile non ha perso un attore importante e Nova 9 è la dimostrazione che Huawei continuerà a portare innovazione e competizione a livelli sempre più elevati. Per chi lo acquista entro la prima metà di novembre sul Huawei Store riceve 40€ di sconto e alcuni omaggi: le Huawei FreeBuds Pro, una cover protettiva, l’estensione della garanzia pari a 6 mesi e 500 GB gratis di Huawei Cloud.

I like the Huawei nova 9, if I consider it exclusively as a test device. Stylish, thin, light, quite powerful, with an excellent screen, a good camera and fast charging. Many of us have missed the quality of Huawei, and the nova 9 demonstrates that the company has not forgotten how to make these very smartphones – even in the most critical of conditions. But here we come back to one of the most important drawbacks – the lack of Google services negates all the advantages of the device and condemns it to oblivion. The maximum that Huawei nova 9 can count on is popularity in narrow circles of connoisseurs, experts and fans of the brand. There is no hope for mass sales. A pity. The smartphone really came out quite good. I would even like to give it some kind of editorial award, but what’s the point? It will be more of a consolation prize than a real recommendation to buy. Therefore, I will leave the final decision to the buyers. After all, someone will definitely buy this smartphone for reasons I can’t possibly fathom. But I won’t judge, because this is a quality device, no matter what.

In this regard, the nova 9 does bring in an excellent quality 120Hz OLED display, a decent set of rear quad cameras and otherwise decent endurance with 66W fast charging to back it up. The lack of Google services isn’t as big a limitation this time around with stable workarounds on offer. We weren’t furnished with the price of the nova 9 at the time of writing but if Huawei can offer this workhorse at a competitive price in Malaysia, it may well be one of the better value buys for midrange phones in 2021. Potential buyers who aren’t as hung up on needing Google apps and are looking for a smartphone with a good display and capable cameras will appreciate what the nova 9 has to offer. The Huawei nova 9 is an interesting device in more ways than one, made more interesting still with its arrival to European markets. Just to recap some of the oddities at play here - the nova 9 runs on a Snapdragon 778G chipset, limited to just 4G connectivity. It also boots EMUI 12, instead of HarmonyOS. And, as far as we can gather, it still has an Android core, though with no Google services or apps. Both of these points are just realities Huawei currently has to deal with, particularly if it wants to retain a presence in Europe. And if nothing else, this nova 9 launch appears to be a tentative indication of such intentions going forward.
