If you want to stay connected no matter where you are, the HP EliteBook 6 G1q with its optional 5G plan is up to the task. It's just a shame that the rest of the device doesn't measure up, because 5G is absolutely transformative for how (and where!) you can work, and I want it on every laptop. I can see this being a big hit with small- to medium-sized businesses that need a roving fleet of sales managers with always-connected devices, where the ability to get work done is more important than the perceived quality of the laptop. For everyone else, HP has the rest of the EliteBook range.

At all times, I never noticed the HP EliteBook 6 G1q getting overly warm in any manner, regardless of what task was being performed. Where some laptops have gotten uncomfortably hot on my lap, this was never something I experienced when using this laptop, thankfully. The HP EliteBook 6 G1q is no doubt a great laptop for those needing a computer that can handle being away from a charger longer than most in this class of laptop, while offering very few compromises. The addition of a SIM reader and a wide range of available ports gives it flexibility not typically seen, further easing the need for dongles or adapters in your travel bag and therefore lightening your overall carry load. These laptops don’t come cheap, but the HP EliteBook 6 G1q is yet another great laptop from HP and their EliteBook lineup. The EliteBook 6 G1q laptop packs incredible battery life and impressive hardware that help keep it ahead of the pack and make it one of the best series of business laptops on the market.

HP EliteBook 6 G1q review: 5G outshines the rest of this laptop The HP EliteBook 6 G1q delivers 5G connectivity that just works. It transforms how you use a laptop like this one, and I hope to see more laptops delivering seamless 5G out of the box in the future. For businesses, it also makes their fleet of laptops remotely trackable and manageable just like a cellular-connected phone or tablet is. The way HP has delivered multi-network 5G you don’t even have to think about is technically impressive. Unfortunately, the rest of the laptop experience is a lower-end Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus machine. A company that wants to deliver a fleet of connected-but-mid-range laptops to a large number of employees will love these. But I bet the CEO will use a different machine.

The EliteBook 6 G1q isn’t much to look at in terms of design. Nothing really stands out as anything groundbreaking in the design; it sticks true to the HP EliteBook standard. I do like the nice array of ports it has, and that’s good to see. Given that this laptop is special because of HP Go 5G, I would have liked to see a different, more updated, and unique design language. Something to set it off as special. Still, it does have a sturdy build and construction, so that’s great for a business laptop. The display is colorful and has decent blacks and crisp whites, but I did find that the 400 nits was still too low for my liking. Thankfully, there are other displays to choose from, so I recommend getting the one with 500 nits.

Over the past few years, I have stopped using Windows devices and have moved to the MacBook even for office work. However, every once in a while, I do check out new releases in the Windows ecosystem to see what is happening there.This monsoon, I have got hold of the new HP EliteBook 6 G1q, a 14-inch laptop which the company touts as a “Next Gen AI PC”. Using a three-year-old MacBook as my daily driver, the new HP EliteBook 6 G1q did feel a bit thick and heavy, though it has a stylish design that accommodates more ports and fans than the Apple device has. The silver finish has some understated elegance to it, and the new HP logo does stand out in a crowd.

HP: Fondata nel 1939, l'azienda statunitense è un importante produttore di server e stampanti e una delle aziende IT leader a livello mondiale. Fino al 2015, la società si chiamava Hewlett-Packard Company. Dopo una scissione, la divisione computer è stata ribattezzata HP Inc.

Nel 2023, HP deteneva una quota di mercato approssimativa del 22% delle vendite globali di PC, diventando così il numero 2 dopo Lenovo.

Ridurre la distanza delle Schede Grafiche per gli utenti che vogliono utilizzare il videogiochi. I nuovi giochi dovrebbero funzionare su queste schede, ma con riduzione dei dettagli e risoluzione mediocre.

Qualcomm Adreno X1-45 1.7 TFLOPS: Un adattatore grafico integrato che il SoC Snapdragon X Plus 8-core X1P-42-100 presenta. Rispetto alle più veloci iGPU X1-85 da 3,8 TFLOPS e 4,6 TFLOPS, questa non solo funziona a velocità di clock inferiori, ma dispone anche di un numero inferiore di shader unificati, con 768 come numero più probabile. L'architettura di base, a quanto pare, non è molto diversa da quella utilizzata nell'Adreno 730. Per quanto riguarda le prestazioni di gioco, è appena sufficiente per i giochi pre-2020 a risoluzioni come HD 720p con impostazioni grafiche basse.

Intel Graphics 4-Core iGPU (Arrow Lake): Scheda grafica integrata basata sull'architettura Xe LPG (simile alle GPU Arc dedicate, ma con un focus sull'efficienza). Offre 4 core Xe (64 motori vettoriali Xe) e 4 unità di ray-tracing.

AMD Radeon 860M: Una iGPU con architettura RDNA 3.5 piuttosto potente che ha debuttato all'inizio del 2025 e che è il diretto successore della Radeon 760M. Le sue 8 CU/WGP (512 shader unificati) funzionano fino a 3 GHz. DX12 Ultimate, ray tracing, generazione di immagini AI e altre funzioni moderne sono tutte supportate, così come molti codec video popolari, tra cui in primo luogo AVC, HEVC, VP9 e AV1. Le sue prestazioni di gioco sono abbastanza buone per giocare a 2024 giochi con impostazioni grafiche basse.

Qualcomm Snapdragon X:

SD X1-26-100: Un processore con architettura ARM (SoC) conveniente da utilizzare nei computer portatili Windows. Il chip X Plus a 8 core presenta 8 core di CPU Oryon che funzionano fino a 2,98 GHz, insieme all'iGPU X1-45 Adreno da 1,7 TFLOPS e alla NPU 45 TOPS Hexagon. Il controller di memoria LPDDR5x-8448 superveloce, conosciuto da altri chip Snapdragon X, il supporto USB 4.0, il supporto TB 4 e il supporto PCIe 4 sono tutti presenti.

SD X Plus X1P-42-100: Un system-on-a-chip con architettura ARM relativamente conveniente da utilizzare nei computer portatili Windows, il cui debutto è previsto per il 20 maggio 2024. Si dice che X1P-42-100 abbia 8 core di CPU Oryon (8 core P, 0 core E) che funzionano a una velocità di clock non ancora nota di almeno 3 GHz. Una GPU Adreno da 3,8 TFLOPS, una NPU Hexagon da 45 TOPS, un controller di memoria LPDDR5x-8448 incredibilmente veloce, il supporto USB 4.0, il supporto TB 4 e il supporto PCIe 4 sono molto probabilmente tutti presenti a bordo. Questo chip X Plus non utilizza lo stesso die su cui si basano i modelli X1P-64-100, X1E-78-100, X1E-80-100, X1E-84-100.

Intel Arrow Lake:

Ultra 5 225U: Un chip Meteor Lake di fascia media che ha debuttato nel dicembre 2023. Questo processore Core Ultra di 1a generazione è arrivato a sostituire i processori Core di 13a generazione; ha 12 core (8 + 2 + 8) e 14 thread a disposizione. I core Performance, che sono 2, funzionano fino a 4,4 GHz, mentre i core Efficient, che sono 10 (8 core principali più 2 extra che si trovano nella Low Power Island), funzionano fino a 3,6 GHz. L'Intel Arc Graphics a 4 core, appena sfornato, funge da adattatore grafico integrato - funziona fino a 1,90 GHz - e c'è anche una serie di altre nuovissime tecnologie in offerta, tra cui la NPU AI Boost integrata con due motori Gen 3 per l'accelerazione hardware dei carichi di lavoro AI. Sono presenti anche vPro Enterprise e funzioni incentrate sul business, come la cancellazione remota della piattaforma. Il consumo energetico di base di questo processore per notebook è di 15 W, mentre il consumo massimo di energia Turbo raccomandato da Intel è di 57 W.

AMD Strix / Gorgon Point:

Ryzen AI 7 350: Un processore relativamente potente della famiglia Strix Point che ha debuttato nell'ottobre 2024. L'APU ad architettura ibrida presenta 8 core di CPU (un mix di core Zen 5 e Zen 5c) che funzionano fino a 5,0 GHz, insieme all'adattatore grafico Radeon 880M e al motore neurale XDNA 2 di 50 TOPS. Il Secure Processor di AMD (che in poche parole è un co-processore ARM on-package) è presente a bordo, così come alcune altre caratteristiche di fascia alta, come AMD-Vi. Altre caratteristiche chiave sono PCIe 4, USB 4 e supporto RAM fino a LPDDR5x-8000, compresa la RAM ECC. L'obiettivo di potenza TDP a lungo termine può arrivare a 55 W.
