The interesting thing is that the model we’re presenting this time around contains an AMD CPU, which is the second Lenovo notebook in a row coming in for testing in AMD colours. Sure it's not a souped up workhorse machine like some of the ThinkPad products, but it does offer enough performance for simple productivity usage. It's the first ThinkPad using AMD technology, and quite frankly, it worked well enough that we have no complains. While Intel still has the better platform for ultraportables, AMD has made a decent effort in catching up while still offering a much lower price point.

However, since this model has definitely hinted at a much brighter future for ThinkPad, awarded or not, this notebook deserves a wholehearted recommendation.

Lenovo: Lenovo Group Limited è il principale produttore di computer in Cina ed il quarto a livello mondiale. Lenovo produce desktops, laptops, servers, computers palmari, strumenti per la grafica, e telefoni cellulari. Lenovo fornisce anche servizi per l'integrazione dell'information technology e servizi di supporto, e la sua QDI unit offre contratti di produzione. Le sue sedi esecutive sono in Cina e Stati Uniti. Ma la sede effettiva è ad Hong Kong. Lenovo è nata nel 1984 come spin-off dell'unità di Scienza delle nuove tecnologi dell'accademia Cinese. L'azienda ha iniziato come rivenditore e distributore, solo in un secondo momento come produttore per marchi esteri, come IBM, che sono entrati nel mercato cinese. Nel 1990, Lenovo ha iniziato a produrre i propri PCs e dal 1997 è divenuta leader del mercato in Cina. Nel 2004, Lenovo il settore PC di IBM per 1.25 miliardi di dollari. I dati del 2007 sulla suddivisione del mercato dei personal computers (ricerca di mercato IDC): HP 18.9 %, Dell 16.4 %, Acer 9.9 %, Lenovo 7.5 %, Apple 5.7 % .

La maggior parte dei giochi attuali può essere giocata in modo fluido. Ma preparatevi ad una riduzione delle presentazioni grafiche considerando le impostazioni di dettaglio basse e la risoluzione limitata. Tuttavia, queste schede forniscono ancora abbastanza potenza per le applicazioni da ufficio e la proiezioni di video (ma non per i video HD).

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD: Scheda grafica intregrata basata sul chipset GM45 (Montevina). Più performante rispetto alla vecchia GMA X3100 grazie ha due shader in più ed ad un clock più elevato. Rimane, comunque, non consigliata per i giocatori più incalliti. Il processore video integrato è capace di codificare video HD (AVC/VC-2/MPEG2). Ad esempio permette la riproduzione di video HD compatibile con i requisiti del logo Blu-Ray, con il supporto nativo per unità Blu-Ray.

ATI Radeon HD 3200: Scheda grafica integrata (sul chipset RS780M) con memoria condivisa basata sul core HD 2400. Troviamo anche il motore video UVD che decodifica video HD. Inoltre, supporta Hybrid CrossfireX (per l'accelarazione) e PowerXpress (per risparmiare energia) con una scheda grafica dedicata della serie HD 3000.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Questo è il successore del Core Duo e del Core Solo con una pipeline più lunga ed il 5-20% di velocità in più senza avere maggiore consumo di energia. Come aggiunta al design del Core Duo esiste un quarto decoder, una unità amplificata SSE ed una unità logica aritmetica (ALU) addizionale. Il Core 2 Duo per portatili è identico al processore per desktop Core 2 Duo ma il processore per portatili lavora con un voltaggio inferiore (0.95 a 1188 Volt) ed un Frontside bus clock inferiore (1066 vs 667 MHz). Le prestazioni di portatili con clock equivalenti sono inferiori del 20-25% rispetto ai PCs Desktop a causa del Frontside bus clock inferiore e agli hard disks più lenti.

AMD Turion Neo X2:

L625: CPU Dual-Core per subnotebooks economici con un controller di memoria integrato DDR2 e basato sul core K8. Con prestazioni simile ai Core 2 Duo da 1.2 GHz.

AMD Turion II Neo:

13.3: Questo è in formato di display comune per i subnotebooks. Netbooks, UMPC ed alcuni subnotebooks hanno displays più piccoli. Tuttavia, la maggioranza dei portatili standard hanno formati superiori. Lo svantaggio è che la lettura di testi è estenuante per gli occhi. Risoluzioni elevate difficilmente potranno essere utilizzate.

Questo subnotebook è uno dei più leggeri di tutti i portatili e può essere trasportato con estrema semplicità. Difficilmente si trovano altri modelli in questa fascia di peso.
 7-9 pollici sono la norma per questa categoria di peso.

Questo portatile è più leggero rispetto alla media di tutti i notebooks. Ma è troppo pesante per essere un sub-notebooks. 
 12 pollici sono la norma per questa categoria di peso.
