I prefer the dm3t over the dm3z due to the better battery performance and lower amount of heat, but the cheaper price tag and ATI graphics on the AMD configuration might appeal more to some people, it depends on your wants and preferences. The port selection of the dm3t is very good, the screen decent, speakers good and battery life superb. I’m a big fan of the Intel CULV processors thanks to their good performance and low power usage

EN→ITMan, we really wanted to fall in love with the dm3t. It's small, sexy, and about as well-built as any other PC laptop we've seen in a while, and the spec list is solid, if not spectacular. But it's hard to fall in love with any laptop that has both a substandard display and a terrible trackpad -- the two parts of a machine you spend the most time interacting with. It's particularly frustrating because they're such obvious and glaring flaws in an otherwise excellent machine, and we simply have no idea how or why HP decided to ship the dm3t without fixing them. Now, where's that sandpaper?

It’s sleek, lasts all day on a charge, and performs well. Plus, you have the choice of adding discrete graphics. Unfortunately, the imprecise touchpad on this machine slowed us down, and literally made us less productive while using it. Overall, we recommend the ASUS UL30A because of its better ergonomics. But if you can live with its few flaws, there are enough things going for the dm3t to make it a worthwhile purchase.

As an entertainment machine, the notebook is capable of playing HD content smoothly and it has a large 500GB hard drive which is perfect for storing lots of media. The notebook has a slick aluminium frame and a compact design but unfortunately it is a little on the heavy side. Plus, you will also need to carry an external optical drive which adds to the bulk. Another problem are the built-in speakers which were incredibly soft and lacked punch. Also, the notebook isn’t really great for gaming.

Nel 2007 i ricavi sono saliti a 104 miliardi di dollari, rendendo HP la prima società IT nella storia a superare i 100 miliardi di dollari. I dati del 2007 sulla suddivisione del mercato dei personal computers (ricerca di mercato IDC): HP 18.9 %, Dell 16.4 %, Acer 9.9 %, Lenovo 7.5 %, Apple 5.7 %.
La maggior parte dei giochi attuali può essere giocata in modo fluido. Ma preparatevi ad una riduzione delle presentazioni grafiche considerando le impostazioni di dettaglio basse e la risoluzione limitata. Tuttavia, queste schede forniscono ancora abbastanza potenza per le applicazioni da ufficio e la proiezioni di video (ma non per i video HD).
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD: Scheda grafica intregrata basata sul chipset GM45 (Montevina). Più performante rispetto alla vecchia GMA X3100 grazie ha due shader in più ed ad un clock più elevato. Rimane, comunque, non consigliata per i giocatori più incalliti. Il processore video integrato è capace di codificare video HD (AVC/VC-2/MPEG2). Ad esempio permette la riproduzione di video HD compatibile con i requisiti del logo Blu-Ray, con il supporto nativo per unità Blu-Ray.
ATI Radeon HD 3200: Scheda grafica integrata (sul chipset RS780M) con memoria condivisa basata sul core HD 2400. Troviamo anche il motore video UVD che decodifica video HD. Inoltre, supporta Hybrid CrossfireX (per l'accelarazione) e PowerXpress (per risparmiare energia) con una scheda grafica dedicata della serie HD 3000.
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500M: Il core grafico dell'Intel GL40 e della GS40 sfrutta una GMA 4500MHD con un clock inferiore (400 contro 533 MHz). A causa della velocità inferiore del core, non c'è un supporto completo Blu-Ray Logo e le prestazioni di gioco sono leggermente inferiori.
ATI Radeon HD 4225:
Ridurre la distanza delle Schede Grafiche per gli utenti che vogliono utilizzare il videogiochi. I nuovi giochi dovrebbero funzionare su queste schede, ma con riduzione dei dettagli e risoluzione mediocre.
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330: La ATI Mobilty Radeon HD 4330 della AMD è una scheda grafica DirectX 10.1 per portatili di fascia bassa. Tecnicamente è una Mobility HD 4530 con un clock inferiore.
Le prestazioni di gioco della ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330 si collocano sotto la HD 4350. I giochi datati DirectX 9 dovrebbero essere utilizzabili con dettagli medi. Le prestazioni potrebbero non bastare per giochi pesanti come GTA 4 o Crysis.
NVIDIA GeForce G 105M: La Nvidia GeForce G105M è una GeForce 9300M G con clock superiore e pertanto si pone come una scheda DirectX 10 per portatili piccoli e sottili.
Rispetto alla 9300M G, la G 105M sfrutta solo 8 shaders cores. Per superare questo problema, ha una velocità clock superiore. Inoltre, integra il nuovo processore video VP3 (le 8400M, e 9300M G hanno un VP2) con pià features video e miglior supporto di decodifica video hd.
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5430: Prossimo chip DirectX 11 con nome in codice Park LP (per il basso consumo di energia?). Si vocifera che il chip richieda appena 8 Watt e sia pertanto concepito per portatili piccoli e sottili.

Intel Celeron Dual-Core: La famiglia Intel Celeron Dual-Core consiste in CPUs dual core per portatili economici. Rispetto alla famiglia Celeron M single core il principale vantaggio (oltre al secondo core) è la funzione Enhanced Speedstep, che consente il downclock della CPU del notebook in modalità di riposo. Di conseguenza il consumo di energia può essere ridotto notevolmente. Rispetto ai processori Core (2) Duo o Pentium Dual-Core, il Celeron Cual-Core ha molto meno L2 Cache il che comporta prestazioni per clock inferiori.
SU2300: CPU dual core di fascia bassa per piccoli portatili. Offre prestazioni limitate a causa della bassa velocità clock ed anche per il fatto che nel brand Celeron alcune funzioni di risparmio energetico sono disabilitate.
AMD Athlon Neo X2:
L335: Processore dual core di fascia base per subnotebooks piccoli e sottili. Basato su un misto dei vecchi K10 / K8 realizzato in 65nm e paragonabile con un Core 2 Duo da 1.2-1.3 GHz.
Intel Pentium Dual Core: Un ritorno del nome Pentium, sebbene sia un core Yonah. In fatti, è un processore dual Core con un ottimo rapporto prestazioni consumi.
SU4100: Processore dual core di fascia bassa per subnotebooks sottili e leggeri. A causa del nome Pentium, la CPU potrebbe avere meno funzioni di risparmio energetico rispetto ai processori Core 2 Duo.
Intel Core 2 Duo: Questo è il successore del Core Duo e del Core Solo con una pipeline più lunga ed il 5-20% di velocità in più senza avere maggiore consumo di energia. Come aggiunta al design del Core Duo esiste un quarto decoder, una unità amplificata SSE ed una unità logica aritmetica (ALU) addizionale. Il Core 2 Duo per portatili è identico al processore per desktop Core 2 Duo ma il processore per portatili lavora con un voltaggio inferiore (0.95 a 1188 Volt) ed un Frontside bus clock inferiore (1066 vs 667 MHz). Le prestazioni di portatili con clock equivalenti sono inferiori del 20-25% rispetto ai PCs Desktop a causa del Frontside bus clock inferiore e agli hard disks più lenti.
SU7300: Processore dual core con clock lento e con un basso TDP da 10 Watt.
AMD Turion Neo X2:
L625: CPU Dual-Core per subnotebooks economici con un controller di memoria integrato DDR2 e basato sul core K8. Con prestazioni simile ai Core 2 Duo da 1.2 GHz.
AMD Turion II Neo:
AMD Athlon II Neo:
K325: Processore con due cores di livello base, controller di memoria DDR3 integrato ed un clock rate basso progettato per i subnotebooks.
Intel Core i3:
380UM: Il Core i3-380UM è un processore ultra low voltage a risparmio energetico per portatili senza Turbo Boost e funzioni AES (rispetto alle CPUs i5 ed i7 UM). Grazie all'Hyperthreading, 4 threads possono essere processati simultaneamente. Nel pacchetto sono incluse anche una scheda grafica integrata (Intel HD Graphics da 166-500 MHz) ed un controller di memoria DDR3-800.
Intel Pentium:
U5400: CPU dual core di fascia bassa della serie Arrandale. Non supporta il Turbo Boost (per la CPU), l'Hyperthreading, la Virtualizzazione e l'AES. A causa della bassa velocità clock, le prestazioni sono sufficienti solo per le applicazioni meno pesanti.
13.3: Questo è in formato di display comune per i subnotebooks. Netbooks, UMPC ed alcuni subnotebooks hanno displays più piccoli. Tuttavia, la maggioranza dei portatili standard hanno formati superiori. Lo svantaggio è che la lettura di testi è estenuante per gli occhi. Risoluzioni elevate difficilmente potranno essere utilizzate.
