Tuttavia, la seconda generazione del ThinkPad E14 è già stata rilasciata, inizialmente solo con un processore Ryzen 5. La E14 Gen 2 con Intel Tiger Lake arriverà in seguito.

È passato un po' di tempo da quando Lenovo ha rilasciato la variante AMD Ryzen 4000. Ora c'è una versione basata su Intel del ThinkPad E14 Gen 2. Il nuovo portatile ThinkPad ottiene una porta Thunderbolt, che è una novità per questo modello, e offre elevate prestazioni della CPU.

EN→ITThis is the part of the review where I tell you that you should avoid this because of the underwhelming display, and middling battery life. But that’s not entirely the truth. There’s a much larger problem with the ThinkPad E14 Gen 2, and that’s the price. For a laptop that’s designed with productivity and business in mind, the $700 starting price is just a tad too steep. You can get the same (or better) performance out of one of Lenovo’s Chromebooks. And in the Windows space, Acer, ASUS, and Dell all have options that come in a bit cheaper than what Lenovo offers here. That’s not to say that the ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 should be ignored entirely. I really did fall in love again with Lenovo’s keyboards, and the ThinkPad branding complete with the TrackPoint are two great reasons alone for you to consider this laptop. I mean, there’s even Thunderbolt 4, which is only just becoming more readily available for other laptops. But you should think twice before just jumping at this one. It’s a great laptop with limited use cases, and you likely won’t be too disappointed, but just temper your expectations first.

Between the display tech, battery life and performance scores, the E14 presents a dilemma for SMB's looking to upgrade the office with mid-level workstations. For similar prices, options such as the Dell XPS13, HP Envy x360, M1 MacBook Air and even the ThinkPad T14 offer better performance and battery life. Fortunately, the ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 can be picked up for a reduced price these days at several 3rd party outlets and still maintains the coveted Mil-Spec design with modern day specs. From the Windows Hello support to the latest Intel chip with updated GPUs the ThinkPad E14 could offer moderate modern-day value, but at close to $1,000 it's tough to recommend. Seems as though Lenovo may feel the same way as the E14 Gen 2 in both AMD and Intel models are no longer listed on their sites.

The ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 (starts at $896; $1,039 as tested) is a business laptop aimed at small offices, priced below the enterprise ThinkPad T and premium ThinkPad X series (in other words, overlapping the ThinkBook series). It's a 14-inch slimline with many of the ThinkPad virtues, such as a first-class keyboard and MIL-STD 810H durability. But it's on the heavy side for a 14-inch laptop; it has only one USB-C and one USB-A port (not counting an outdated USB 2.0 port); and the power adapter steals the USB-C port. Lenovo laptops regularly earn four or four and a half stars in our review ratings, but this one falls a bit short.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" dalla leggenda inglese, novo (latino) per nuovo) è stata fondata nel 1984 come società cinese di commercio di computer. Nel 2004, l'azienda era il più grande produttore di laptop in Cina e, dopo aver acquisito la divisione PC di IBM nel 2005, il quarto più grande al mondo. Oltre a desktop e notebook, l'azienda produce monitor, proiettori, server, ecc. ed è specializzata nello sviluppo, produzione e commercializzazione di elettronica di consumo, personal computer, software, soluzioni aziendali e servizi correlati.
Nel 2016, l'azienda si è classificata al primo posto al mondo nelle vendite di computer. Lo deteneva ancora nel 2023 con una quota di mercato globale di circa il 23%. Importanti linee di prodotti sono Thinkpad, Legion e Ideapad.
Nel 2011 ha acquisito una partecipazione di maggioranza in Medion AG, un produttore europeo di hardware per computer. Nel 2014 è stata acquistata Motorola Mobility, che ha dato a Lenovo una spinta nel mercato degli smartphone.
Ridurre la distanza delle Schede Grafiche per gli utenti che vogliono utilizzare il videogiochi. I nuovi giochi dovrebbero funzionare su queste schede, ma con riduzione dei dettagli e risoluzione mediocre.
AMD Vega 6:
Scheda grafica integrata delle APU Ryzen basate sull'architettura Vega con 6 CU (= 384 shaders) e un clock fino a 1.500 MHz.
AMD Vega 7:
AMD Radeon RX 640:
Scheda grafica dedicata entry level basata su Polaris con 512 shader (8 CU) o 640 shader (10 CU) e 4 GB di memoria grafica GDDR5 (bus di memoria a 64 bit). Rispetto al vecchio RX 550X, il bus di memoria è dimezzato.
Intel Iris Xe G7 96EUs:
Scheda grafica integrata nei SoC Intel Tiger Lake G4 basati sulla nuova architettura Gen. 12 con 96 EU (Execution Units / Shader Cluster). La frequenza di clock dipende dal modello di processore. I chip Tiger Lake sono prodotti nel moderno processo 10nm+ di Intel.
Intel Iris Xe G7 80EUs:
Scheda grafica integrata nei SoC Intel Tiger Lake G7 basati sulla nuova architettura Gen. 12 con 80 EU (Execution Units / Shader Cluster). La frequenza di clock dipende dal modello di processore. I chip Tiger Lake sono prodotti nel moderno processo 10nm+ di Intel.
AMD Vega 5:
Scheda grafica integrata delle APU Ryzen basate sull'architettura Vega con 6 CU (= 320 shaders) e un clock fino a 1400 MHz.

AMD Renoir (Ryzen 4000 APU):
R5 4500U: APU mobile Hexy-Core che utilizza sei core Zen 2 con clock da 2,3 a 4 GHz e una scheda grafica Vega con 6 CU con clock fino a 1500 MHz. La CPU non supporta SMT / Hyperthreading.
R7 4700U: APU mobile Octa-Core che utilizza core Zen 2 con clock da 2 a 4 GHz e una scheda grafica Vega con 7 CU con clock fino a 1600 MHz. Rispetto al più veloce 4800U, il 4700U offre una velocità di clock di boost leggermente inferiore e non supporta SMT / Hyperthreading.
R3 4300U: APU mobile Quad-Core che utilizza quattro core Zen 2 con clock da 2,7 a 3,7 GHz e una scheda grafica Vega con 5 CU con clock fino a 1400 MHz. La CPU non supporta SMT / Hyperthreading.
Intel Comet Lake:
i7-10510U: Processore quad-core a bassa potenza basato su Comet Lake (tecnicamente identico a Whiskey Lake e ancora prodotto in 14nm++). I core della CPU possono clockare tra 1,8 e 4,9 GHz (tutti e 4 i 4 core a 4,3 GHz max.) con HyperThreading (8 thread). Il controller di memoria integrato supporta DDR4-2666 e utilizzando cTDP su/giù le prestazioni possono essere regolate dall'OEM (10 - 25 Watt possibili, 15W di default).
Intel Tiger Lake:
i7-1165G7:
Processore quad-core a bassa potenza basato su Tiger Lake per computer portatili sottili e leggeri. I quattro cores si aggirano intorno ai 2,8 - 4,7 GHz. Prodotto in 10nm+ alla Intel.
i5-1135G7:
Processore quad-core a bassa potenza basato su Tiger Lake per computer portatili sottili e leggeri. Prodotto in un processore migliorato a 10nm presso Intel.
