Chrome keeps growing in features and this two-in-one will continue to get updates every six weeks for the next eight years. As your main device, its performance and size may be a little limiting. But if you're looking for something for pure mobility or as a secondary device, this is a smart choice. I can certainly see why Chrome users are excited about it, especially at $300 or less.

Leave your laptop in the home office and relax on the porch or the couch with this nifty little tablet. The battery will absolutely never leave you hanging and the screen is great, but there will be a few minute hangs and stutters every now and then.

The Lenovo Chromebook Duet is a decent performing little Chromebook that doubles as a tablet. It runs office and school applications with ease and even performs well when relaxing with some games or videos.

When announced at CES this year, the Lenovo Duet Chromebook attracted a lot of attention for putting some great features and looks into a budget-priced ChromeOS tablet. Everyone was intrigued – would it live up to the hype? Travis and I each bought one once they were released, and are ready to share some impressions after a few months of use.

When it boils down to the basics, the Lenovo Duet is an impressive machine. Generally, when computers get down to this price, there are some major trade-offs, but for the most part, Lenovo has been able to make the right calls when constructing the Duet.

The Lenovo Chromebook Duet is an astonishingly good value device, coming bundled with a detachable keyboard in order to undercut the price of the iPad and Surface Go 2 by a couple hundred quid. With a lovely Full HD screen, stylish ultra-portable design and ultra-long battery life, this is an fantastic buy for bargain hunters and school students.

I would recommend the Duet as a buy for anyone who wants to cautiously move to ChromeOS, a secondary device, an in-a-pinch substitute or a an additional screen in this new work-from-home reality. I don’t think the current Duet is ready to take on heavy workloads just yet, but if Lenovo keeps at it, the Duet 2 might be in the conversation with iPad Pro, Galaxy Tabs, and Surface Pros with just a few tweaks. Will ChromeOS keep pace? That may be another story.

Lenovo's little Chromebook isn't perfect, and in fact has a few significant drawbacks, but almost nothing else competes on value. With a price starting at just $279, few Chromebooks or tablets offer as much flexibility out of the box as the Lenovo Chromebook Duet.

As someone who has made use of a Surface Go for a long time (I used it at MWC last year even) I love the smaller, more portable form factor. I don’t mind a smaller keyboard — I’m not a full touch-typer anyway so it did not fuss me too much. I would have liked the keyboard to be backlit though but that of course depends on where and when you use it yourself.

The Lenovo Duet Chromebook strikes the perfect balance between tablet portability and Chromebook utility, all while keeping the price ridiculously low - and somehow packing in a Lich King of a battery that simply refuses to die

During a time when kids are being schooled at home, parents are turning to Netflix for escape, and no one wants to spend a bundle of cash on anything, the Duet hits every high note. But even if we weren’t shrouded in the financial and social uncertainty of a pandemic, the Duet would be the perfect Chromebook for most people.

There's a lot of good with the Lenovo Chromebook Duet, and when you consider the price, it's pretty much all good. This device looks and feels premium with its aluminum build, two-tone design, and excellent display. And I want to once again point out that the keyboard and kickstand both come in the box for that low price of $279, which is lower than the price of just Apple's Magic Keyboard.

This Lenovo Chromebook Duet review shows why it should garner deserved attention for its value proposition, giving you a 2-in-1 with a solid screen and long endurance for less than the iPad or Surface Go 2 cost, before their keyboards. If only its keyboard weren't so cramped and its hinge felt a bit more solid.

Is it the perfect Chromebook for you? Maybe. Is it perfect for everyone? No, but it never claimed to be. Instead, this Chromebook is doing something decidedly different in the space and I think there are many users who are going to simply love it. When you combine all the good things that come in the box along with the mind-blowing price of $279, this device becomes an instant recommend for most people that find themselves considering it. If that’s you, then I’m wholeheartedly saying buy one and I think you’ll enjoy it very much.

Like any other gadget, it’s far from perfect, but it’s easy to look over the Duet’s faults due to the overwhelming value it delivers. If you’re looking for a new media consumption tablet that can also double as a mini laptop, the Lenovo Chromebook Duet is definitely worth the investment.

The Lenovo Chromebook Duet is a surprising success. For less than $300, you get a capable tablet with good battery life, performance that’s adequate for basic use and an attachable keyboard. It’s tiny, so not the kind of device you’ll want to use all day every day. But as an inexpensive Chrome OS device, it checks most of the boxes.

With that in mind, this is the closest to perfection that I’ve ever seen from a $300 laptop-slash-tablet. If you’re looking for a fun device for kids that can also handle homeschooling work, or a portable 2-in-1 for watching Netflix and sending emails on the go, the Duet should do just fine. It’s a solid midrange 2-in-1 Chromebook that has no business being as cheap as it is.

The Chromebook Duet earns an honorable mention among Chromebooks for consumers and captures our Editors' Choice among Chromebooks for students. Besides being a bargain, it's a thoughtfully designed and well-crafted detachable, especially for Android phone owners; the tablet and its peripherals have the look and feel of a product costing much more. As you use it, you keep discovering things—from the cameras to the screen brightness—that are better than you expected. I wish it had a faster CPU, but I believe a lot of users will be very happy with it.

But if you’re a Chrome OS-loving frequent traveler or a busy bee seeking a smaller, secondary display, I’d suggest the Duet in a heartbeat. Admittedly, the Lenovo Chromebook Duet is still an amazing bang-for-your-buck product that’s a total star in the 2-in-1 Chromebook space.

The Lenovo Chromebook Duet is a surprisingly affordable 2-in-1 looking to find a path for a troubled kind of Chromebook. Chromebook fans might remember the Pixel Slate, which didn't thrive and was followed by reports that Google wasn't making first-party ChromeOS tablets anymore. Now, thanks to a partnership with Lenovo, a fantastically low price and tablet-based optimizations, it just might work.

Overall, Lenovo has absolutely delivered a stellar tablet/laptop experience with the Chromebook Duet. Sure, I’d like to see a fingerprint scanner included and I’m excited about tablets like this in the future with even better ARM chips than this, but this all just proves that ‘Kukui’ (the baseboard this device is built upon) tablets are going to be what breathe life back into the idea of a Chrome OS tablets again. Lenovo expects to begin shipping the Chromebook Duet by May, so we won’t have too long to wait for the official release of the first of many new Chrome OS tablets.

I'm excited to get the Lenovo IdeaPad Duet Chromebook through our lab and see how to takes to our performance and battery tests. So, should you buy the Lenovo IdeaPad Duet? We’ll answer that question in May when the Duet comes to market, and we’ve had a chance to review it, but based on my first impressions, I’m pretty confident that this will be an easy product to recommend, considering its $279 price tag. Our own Kyle Bradshaw also seems quite excited at the prospect of this being a Stadia machine…
