That said, our pick of the trio has got to be the gram 14 because it offers the best blend of performance and portability. It is just about the right size, slightly bigger than the gram 13, but not too big as to become cumbersome like the gram 15 could be. But perhaps more crucially, it benefits from having a larger 60Wh battery, giving it a whopping battery life of over 9 hours in our intensive test - or over two times as long as other comparable notebooks. If you have to constantly be on the move, this is the ideal notebook for you.

LG marked its return to the notebook scene last year with the incredible gram 15 and gram 14 notebooks. Of the two, the gram 15 is arguably more impressive. Because even though it has a 15-inch display, it weighed a scarcely believable 980g, which, believe it or not, makes it even lighter than an 11-inch MacBook Air. This made it extremely popular amongst users who wanted the larger display of a 15-inch notebook but without the associated heft.

The LG gram 14 is a super-light, speedy laptop with top-notch battery life. It lacks that luxury feel, but is a little less expensive than some competition. If ultimate portability is paramount, it should be on your short list.

The improvements LG made to the Gram 14Z970 over the previous model make it much more than a notebook we admire for its light weight. This new version actually weighs a tiny bit less than the original, and sports slightly trimmer dimensions, too, while adding significant features. This time around, you’re getting a touch screen, keyboard backlighting, and a more rigid build. The battery life has more than doubled to nearly 16 hours in our testing, giving the Gram 14Z970 some of the best battery runtime of any light notebook we’ve reviewed. It’s also one of the very lightest notebooks you can buy, period, at just 2.14 pounds, while sporting a larger screen than many ultralight alternatives.
