The HP Mini 1103 essentially takes much of the features found in a typical consumer netbook and adds a few business class features such as anti-glare screen and Bluetooth. This helps keep the price down to $300 but it also means it isn't quite as nice as other business class netbooks. Thankfully, the keyboard is comfortable although not quite as nice as their other designs and it does offer some very long running times.

In this HP Mini 1103 review we discovered that with 2GB of RAM, a 1.8 Ghz processor, high definition audio and durable design this netbook computer is a perfect choice for both home and business users. Of course it is not a dual-core or quad-core powered computer that can run all sorts of most demanding business applications, but for usual business computing needs, this netbook is not slow at all.

While it may not have the most impressive components, the HP Mini 1103 is still a decent netbook for basic Web browsing and on-the-go productivity. If you want more speed and power, and are willing to pay a little more for it, the Editors' Choice HP Pavilion dm1z can certainly provide. If price is a major consideration, though, it's hard to beat the $299 price tag of the HP Mini 1103.

The HP Mini 1103 represents the latest evolution of business netbooks from HP. Unfortunately, this netbook is far from being the best choice for mobile professionals on a tight budget. Yes, the Mini 1103 delivers great battery life and a budget-friendly price tag. Yes, if you just need a basic laptop for staying connected on the road then this will get the job done. But regardless of these advantages I can't get over the fact that you can find much better ultraportable laptops for a modest increase in price. Considering that HP offers the very impressive (and significantly better) Pavilion dm1z for just $150 more than the price of the Mini 1103, I can't really come up with a good reason to recommend the Mini 1103 unless you simply cannot afford to spend more than $300.

Battery life, on the other hand, is this netbook's selling point. In testing, we got about 6 hours of battery life, which is either the best or almost the best in this 10.1-inch netbook category. This means it's a great choice for college students or anyone "on-the-go". While there might be a few flaws in this netbook, they can be justified by the extremely low cost of about $300. Remember, you get what you pay for and if you're looking to spend as little as you can for a solid system, this is a great buy

HP's Netbooks have traditionally come in two versions: consumer 10-inch models such as the Mini 210, and pro-level Netbooks such as the Mini 5103. The $299 Mini 1103 is both and neither. If you're looking for a budget-level Netbook with a long battery life, the HP Mini 1103 offers a very affordable package compared with other HP Netbooks. Just be forewarned: there isn't anything here you haven't seen before.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 3150: Scheda grafica integrata (memoria condivisa) nell'Intel Atom N4xx CPUs. Minimamente più veloce rispetto ad una vecchia GMA 950 e pertanto non adatta ai giochi 3D o ai video HD (solo accelerazione MPEG2).

Queste schede grafiche per portatili non sono adatte al gaming. Anche se dovessero funzionare, ci sarebbero diversi errori grafici e un frame rate molto basso. Questi chips non sono affatto per i gamers! Applicazioni internet e da ufficio, invece non sono problematiche per queste GPUs.

Intel Atom:

La Intel Atom è una serie a 64-Bit di microprocessori (non tutti i modelli supportano 64bit) per portatili economici e piccoli (chiamati comunemente netbooks), MIDs, o UMPCs (Ultra Mibile Persona Computer). La particolarità della nuova architettura è l'esecuzione "in order" (al posto della consueta e più veloce esecuzione "out of order"). Di conseguenza il transistor count della serie Atom è abbastanza inferiore, e quindi più economico da produrre. Inoltre, il consumo di energia è molto contenuto. Le prestazioni per Megahertz sono ovviamente peggiori rispetto ai vecchi Pentium 3M (1,2 GHz alla pari di 1.6 GHz Atom).
