Lo ZenFone 9 è un ottimo telefono per una nicchia di intenditori del marchio. Ha un’ottima qualità audio, ha una buonissima autonomia soprattutto ha potenza da vendere e un’ampia possibilità di personalizzazione, elemento che guarda soprattutto agli appassionati del brand. Un telefono non per tutti, perché è sicuramente meno gradevole esteticamente di un Pixel 7 o di un Galaxy S22 ma soprattutto paga rispetto ai due concorrenti l’assenza di supporto software adeguato e di ricarica wireless. Asus si rivolge soprattutto al suo pubblico, e lascia sempre un po’ perplessi la scelta di dare solo due anni di aggiornamenti per il sistema operativo e tre anni di patch software ad una platea di consumatori che è attenta soprattutto a questi elementi. I miglioramenti rispetto alla già ottima generazione precedente ci sono tutti, anche se si poteva fare qualcosa di più soprattutto sul fronte della fotocamera, dove la presenza del gimbal non nasconde prestazioni buone ma non eccezionali. Il gimbal stesso, in molti casi, può dar fastidio quando si scattano le foto per la gestione molto “morbida” del movimento, e sul punta e scatta si ha la sensazione perenne di una fotocamera in ritardo rispetto a dove stiamo inquadrando. Il suo problema principale resta il prezzo: Asus tiene molto bene il prezzo di mercato e proprio per questo motivo non si riesce a fare l’affare, va preso a prezzo quasi pieno. Prezzo che però trova i due scomodi concorrenti citati sopra, il Pixel 7 a 649 euro e il Galaxy S22 che ormai ha raggiunto un prezzo super concorrenziale, ma che nonostante abbia quasi un anno di vita resta comunque un telefono molto più bilanciato per un pubblico di massa di un Asus. Senza calcolare gli iPhone, che come dimensioni restano allineati e come prezzo, se si guarda ad un modello del scorso anno, possono essere altrettanto competitivi.

Prezzo ancora fermo al listino. Non che sia caro intendiamoci, il posizionamento è corretto rispetto ai competitor ma, a differenza di molti altri brand, Asus riesce a controllare molto bene il prezzo e salvo qualche sconto importate da Unieuro, davvero difficile riuscire a trovare Zefone 9 a prezzi super concorrenziali. Aggiornamenti, come detto sopra, che hanno bisogno di una semplice garanzia su 3 major update e 4 anni di patch, nulla di assurdo da poter offrire da parte dell'azienda. Fotocamera non all'altezza dei top, in particolare di S22 che ormai si trova sotto i 600€. Asus deve ancora lavorare sull'algoritmo software: l'hardware, la qualità e l'interfaccia non hanno reali punti deboli, ma è chiaro che manca ancora quella "magia software" che altri brand hanno raggiunto. HDR in particolare e una saturazione cromatica più vicina ai canoni moderni di "bellezza online". Tutti spunti per uno Zenfone 10 che possa portare un'ottimizzazione delle cornici, un foro della fotocamera più allineato con la curvatura laterale della scocca e un'estetica ancora più gradevole.

Lo consigliamo quindi senza la minima esitazione a tutti coloro che vogliono un terminale bello e comodo da utilizzare anche con una sola mano, a prova di jeans e di tasca della giacca, ma che sia potente e moderno e privo di rinunce, ad un prezzo che visto l’andamento del mercato ci sembra decisamente adeguato.

ASUS ha alzato la barra con Zenfone 9, migliorando sostanzialmente quanto già di buono fatto col predecessore. Il risultato è che ci troviamo di fronte al miglior smartphone Android compatto attualmente sul mercato: non certamente un settore con grande competizione, questo va detto, ma anche in presenza di concorrenti andrebbe premiata l'eccezionale scheda tecnica accompagnata da un design molto piacevole, un'autonomia eccellente e un impianto fotografico di pregevole livello. Sia chiaro, Zenfone 9 non è perfetto, ma è un telefono realizzato con cura e attenzione, e questo si traduce in un'esperienza d'uso incredibilmente piacevole che mette l'utente al centro, costruendogli attorno uno strumento versatile, concreto e intelligente nel senso più letterale del termine.

La versione 8/128GB costa 799 euro (729 al lancio) quella 8/256GB 849 euro e la, secondo me, inutile 16/256GB arriva 899 euro. In linea con il mercato, quello che non è in linea però è la compattezza che offre senza rinunciare a tanta potenza e batteria. Sia per dimensioni che per prezzo si scontra con S22, iPhone 13, Pixel 6a e non sfigura.. arriverà confronto!

E quest'anno ha anche un design ben riuscito e caratteristico.

Come detto all'inizio, sebbene lo smartphone perfetto non esista, Asus Zenfone 9 si avvicina moltissimo ai desideri della maggior parte delle persone. È un top di gamma, ha un'autonomia eccellente, ha dimensioni fantastiche, un display ottimo, audio e connettività convincenti e anche il jack audio. La parte fotografica non lascia dietro la concorrenza ma questa è intesa come fascia alta e top del mercato. Il posizionamento di prezzo, sebbene più alto dello scorso anno, lo trovo corretto in tutte le varianti di memoria: 16/256GB a 899€ è un prezzo in linea con caratteristiche, unicità del prodotto e momento storico. 729€ in promo per la versione base 8/128GB sono il giusto lancio per un prodotto che, come sappiamo, difficilmente subirà cali di prezzo importanti. Con Zenfone 9 Asus ha commercializzato anche lo smartphone Android piccolo, potente e con pochissime rinunce: siete tra coloro che lo acquisteranno perchè finalmente è arrivato il prodotto che aspettavate oppure preferite altre soluzioni?

ASUS continua a colpire un segmento particolare spesso tralasciato dai brand più noti e lo fa con un prodotto che centra a pieno il bersaglio ancora una volta realizzando il miglior smartphone compatto di fascia alta sul mercato. Il processore di fascia alta unito all’ottimo display compatto, e relative dimensioni, lo rendono uno smartphone decisamente unico sul mercato e senza rivali. I pregi e difetti sono esattamente gli stessi del modello precedente, con giusto un piccolo miglioramenti su design, fotocamere e batteria. Nota più dolente, così come per quasi tutti gli smartphone del 2022, è il prezzo. Asus Zenfone 9 è disponibile in tutte le colorazioni nel taglio da 8/128 GB al prezzo di 799€, il taglio da 8/256 è disponibile a 849€ nelle colorazioni Bianca e Nera, mentre il taglio da 16/256 GB a 899€ nella sola colorazione nera.

ASUS Zenfone 9 è uno smartphone che pesca dal passato per guardare al futuro. Si tratta di un dispositivo che si distingue per le sue dimensioni di 146,5 x 68,1 x 9,1 mm e il suo peso di 169 grammi, che al giorno d'oggi lo fanno rientrare nella categoria dei compatti. Il dispositivo strizza l'occhio a un target specifico, presentando tra l'altro un prezzo di partenza più contenuto rispetto a molti altri top di gamma, ovvero 799 euro (729 euro in preordine). Le prestazioni, sorrette dal processore Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, sono al top del mercato, così come convince l'ottimo display AMOLED da 5,9 pollici con refresh rate di 120Hz. Presenti certificazione IP68, 5G, jack audio e Wi-Fi 6E, così come un buon comparto audio. Il reparto fotografico, nonostante la scelta di implementare "solamente" due sensori, convince in linea generale, anche se non è definibile da cameraphone. Ottima la presenza del gimbal, che stabilizza i video come si deve.

ASUS Zenfone 9 è disponibile al preordine da oggi, 28 luglio, e sarà in promo fino al 17 agosto, promo che porta il prezzo della versione 8/128 GB dai 799 € di listino a 729 €. Sul mercato però arrivano anche le varianti 8/256 GB a 849 €, solo nelle colorazioni bianca e nera, e quella 16/256 GB a 899 €, solo nella colorazione nera. Vale la pena acquistarlo? A noi è piaciuto particolarmente. E’ compatto, originale quanto basta, con un ottimo display, prestazioni da top di gamma e una buona autonomia. Anche la fotocamera, seppur non al pari di altri top di gamma, è riuscita tutto sommato a soddisfarci. Il prezzo poi è particolarmente interessante. Insomma, da considerare se volete un flagship con dimensioni ridotte.

For those that want a compact smartphone, but don’t want to compromise on performance, the ASUS Zenfone 9 is a good option, and on paper it offers a great combination of three cameras, all with auto-focus. However, around this price point, you don’t need to spend much more money to find a smartphone with a triple camera setup on the back, giving additional telephoto options, such as the Samsung Galaxy S22 or S23. In terms of image quality, the Zenfone 9 offers some mixed results, not as good as the results you’ll get from Samsung, Google, and Apple. The main camera gives images that just didn’t quite hit the mark, and the camera seemed very prone to lens flare when the sun was in the frame, or even outside the frame. This is a real shame, as the Pixel 7 and Galaxy S22 are both available for less than the Zenfone 9. The ultra-wide angle camera performed well, and for those that want a selfie camera with auto-focus, this could be a good option. Especially if you need a smartphone to have a headphone socket. But for the photographers out there, it’s likely you’ll be happier with a different phone. Video stabilisation is impressive, and this could be another aspect of this smartphone that would make it a strong contender. If the price drops further over time, this could be considered a bit of a bargain, especially for those looking for a compact phone.

Although it’s not the perfect “small” device, and there is a lot of stiff competition at its price points, we really like the ASUS Zenfone 9 and also like the direction ASUS took with this phone. The Zenfone 9’s performance is stellar, it takes very good photos, battery life is good, the textured back provides excellent grip, and the small form factor and gesture controls make it ideally suited for one-handed use. ASUS obviously put a lot of thought into the design and features of the Zenfone 9. For users in the market for a smaller phone, the only real caveats to consider are the lack of a true telephoto camera and wireless charging. We suspect, however, those two things aren’t going to be deal breakers for many folks. The ASUS Zenfone 9 has a starting MSRP of $699 for the 8GB/128GB model, while the 16GB/256GB model we tested here is priced at $799. Order one between today and October 15th as part of ASUS’s pre-order promotion and the company will throw in a set of ROG Cetra True wireless headphones (a $99 value). There are some excellent devices, like the Galaxy S22 and OnePlus 10T available in the Zenfone 9’s price range that offer some additional features, not to mention devices like the Pixel 6, though the Pixel doesn’t perform nearly as well. Still, all of those devices are either bigger or have some caveats of their own.

The Zenfone 9 arguably either needs to be a little cheaper, or it needs a little more refinement for its newly elevated asking price. That design, while sharp from most angles, falls short from the front, and the phone lacks wireless charging. Meanwhile the camera, while mostly solid and impressively steady, isn’t top of its class, and throws up some weird artefacts in low-light shooting. It’s still a hugely impressive effort, however, and a phone that faces very little competition within its pint-sized flagship niche.

That pleasantness extends to the experience of using the phone to do day-to-day things. It feels responsive and polished. The built-in speakers are better than average. If I forget to charge my wireless earbuds, I can just plug in wired headphones. The power button even does what it’s supposed to when you hold it down for Pete’s sake! Realistically, the Zenfone 9 is destined for cult classic status in the US. It doesn’t work on all carriers in the US, and the American public has spoken loud and clear that it wants big phones. For not much more money, the Samsung Galaxy S22 is a better choice for most people, with broad carrier support, a telephoto camera on every model, and a solid five-year security support policy to back it all up. I just hope that something like the Zenfone 9 can remain an option in our current duopoly for small phone superfans like me.

Asus launched the Asus Zenfone 9 smartphone in July 2022 with an expected price of $815 (Rs 64,490 in India) approx. The design of the Zenfone 9 is similar to the design language of Apple and Huawei smartphones. The device features a 5.9-inch Super AMOLED display with up to a 120Hz refresh rate and 1100 nits brightness. It has 445-pixel density and HDR10+ support. The smartphone is powered by a 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. The chipset is paired with up to 8GB to 16GB RAM and 128GB to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The Zenfone 9 arguably either needs to be a little cheaper, or it needs a little more refinement for its newly elevated asking price. That design, while sharp from most angles, falls short from the front, and the phone lacks wireless charging. Meanwhile the camera, while mostly solid and impressively steady, isn’t top of its class, and throws up some weird artefacts in low-light shooting. It’s still a hugely impressive effort, however, and a phone that faces very little competition within its pint-sized flagship niche.

It’s the only top-tier compact option on the market with gaming phone power, and could be perfect for anyone sick of the oversized overlords of the Android flagship world. It’s also bursting with value. From the touch-sensitive, customisable Smart Key, to the autofocusing ultra-wide and selfie cameras, and hard plastic shell in the box – the list of value adds is as long as the phone is short. We expected the gimbal-stabilised primary camera to be great across the board – but while its video capture impresses, stills performance is less stunning. We would have also loved wireless charging. Imperfect as it may be though, the Zenfone 9 is a very good, compact phone that checks a lot of boxes left unchecked by the competition.

You have to pay for something small and nice... unfortunately, in my opinion it is quite salty. In our market, Asus ZenFone 9 comes in three versions: 8+128 GB, 8+256 GB and even 16+256 GB. The cheapest model costs 799 EUR, the average version is 849 EUR, and the top model is 899 EUR That's just how much flagships cost at the moment! Nevertheless, I have such a strange feeling that this smartphone could be a little cheaper - then it would definitely be a hit. With prices at the level of competing flagships, well - it tempts primarily with its compactness. Yes, you must admit it, but it is impressive.

But if you are in Asia or Europe and are looking for a good, small and compact smartphone, then look no further than the ASUS Zenfone 9. At €799, it’s pretty competitive. Considering the smallest Galaxy S22 is €50 more. Keep in mind that the €799 price is for 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, not the 16GB/256GB model that we have here.

Setting out to make a proper flagship in a tiny body, Asus did a lot of things right with the Zenfone 9, with only minimal compromise. If we have to point out its missteps, those will include the lack of wireless charging (all the bar phones above have it, and so does the Flip) and the missing telephoto camera. These are both more or less understandable omissions, given how both take up valuable space. The rather slow Night mode implementation had to be mentioned, but it's more of a niggle in the absence of other flaws and one that could potentially be fixed in an update. The rest of the Zenfone 9 is actually pretty great, starting with the water-resistant build and eye-catching design. The large circles on the back aren't just for show, and camera performance is respectable with autofocus across all lenses and a particularly impressive video stabilization capability. The latest top-end Qualcomm chipset delivers excellent performance and is also decently efficient, which results in class-leading longevity when coupled with the YoY increase in battery capacity.

Qualcomm Adreno 730:

Chip grafico per smartphone e tablet integrato nel SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Qualcomm sostiene che è il 30% più veloce dell'Adreno 660 nel SoC Snapdragon 888. Per Android dovrebbe essere una delle schede grafiche più veloci alla fine del 2021.

Ridurre la distanza delle Schede Grafiche per gli utenti che vogliono utilizzare il videogiochi. I nuovi giochi dovrebbero funzionare su queste schede, ma con riduzione dei dettagli e risoluzione mediocre.

SD 8+ Gen 1:

SoC di fascia alta per smartphone introdotto alla fine del 2021 e prodotto in 4 nm presso TSMC. Integra un "Prime Core" basato su architettura ARM Cortex-X2 con clock fino a 3,2 GHz. Altri tre core ad alte prestazioni sono basati sull'A710 ma con clock fino a 2,5 GHz. Inoltre, sono integrati quattro core a risparmio energetico basati sull'architettura ARM Cortex-A510 con clock fino a 1,8 GHz. Oltre ai core del processore, il SoC integra un modem WiFi 6e, un DSP Hexagon (per l'accelerazione AI) e un ISP Spectra. Il controller di memoria integrato supporta la memoria LPDDR5 veloce fino a 3.200 MHz. Il 5G è ora incluso nel chip con il modem Snapdragon X65.
