From the moment we unboxed the G74Sx it was clear that ASUS were aiming to outdo Alienware in the enthusiast laptop marketplace and we were off to a good start with solid feeling chassis, soft touch coating and some futuristic styling (though ASUS prefer Stealth Fighter comparisons).

This "mobile" gaming machine really does have everything you need for on-the-go power-computing, even though it weighs almost as much as a lightweight desktop. Asus packs a lot of power into the Asus G74SX, and the system has a fairly svelte body to boot. Now, if only we can get a review model that doesn't have a faulty LED backlight.

For a price of Rs.1,24,990, the Asus G74SX offers good value when you consider what you’re getting. A similarly spec’d Alienware would cost you about 30K more, so keeping that in mind, Asus offers better value for money. But they’ve still not rectified some basic problems that were present with the earlier models. The main issue is the lack of a physical toggle switch for the 3D mode. I want the choice to switch it on and off when I please, without having to run to the control panel every single time. Also, there’s no way to adjust the depth of the 3D effect while gaming. Finally, Asus gives you plenty of choices and configurations for all the components, leaving aside the most important one, the graphics card. The GTX 560M is a powerful card, no doubt, but it’s not enough for 3D, which is quite clear from the benchmarks. These are a few, but crucial areas, which stops the G74SX from being a clear winner.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M: Il successore della GeForce GTX 460M basato sul nuovo chip GF116. Le prestazioni sono migliori di circa il 13% rispetto alla 460M, a a causa dell'ottimizzazione del chip il consumo energetico è simile.

Ridurre la distanza delle Schede Grafiche per gli utenti che vogliono utilizzare il videogiochi. I nuovi giochi dovrebbero funzionare su queste schede, ma con riduzione dei dettagli e risoluzione mediocre.
