Archive.org versionLisa Gade reviews the Alienware m17 R3, the 2020 update to their slim and light 17.3” gaming laptop. Though Alienware continues with the Legend design, they’ve make quite a few changes inside, including improved cooling with a vapor chamber for the GPU and more VRMs, a bigger battery, a deeper travel 1.7mm keyboard and more. The R3 runs Windows 10 on Intel 10th gen, 45 watt Core i7 and Core i9 HK CPUs with up to NVIDIA RTX 2070 Super and RTX 2080 Super GPUs (full mobile, not max-Q). There are 144Hz and 300Hz full HD displays and a 100% Adobe RGB 4K display to choose from, up to 32GB RAM, 3 M.2 SSD slots with optional RAID0, WiFi 6 and Gigabit Ethernet, Thunderbolt 3, a microSD card slot and a host of other ports. List price starts at $1,599.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super Max-Q:
Queste schede grafiche dovrebbero essere in grado di far funzionare tutti i giochi attuali con un framerates fluido ma rinunciando al livello di dettaglio massimo. Specialmente i giochi impegnativi come Crysis, Age of Conan, o Mass Effect sono utilizzabili soltanto con impostazioni grafiche ridotte. I giochi meno pesanti (e più datati), come Fifa 08, Command & Conquer 3, o Battlefield 2142 possono essere giocati con livello di dettagli più alto.

Un processore hexa-core ad alte prestazioni progettato per i computer portatili più spessi con spazio per migliori termiche. Il processore Comet Lake-H è prodotto sul processo Intel di terza generazione a 14 nm e dispone della iGPU UHD Graphics 630 con clock da 350 MHz a 1.150 MHz. I core della CPU funzionano a 2.6 GHz (velocità di clock di base) con boosting fino a 5 GHz e la probabile frequenza Boost all-core è di 4.3 GHz. Il supporto Hyper-Threading è abilitato, permettendo a due thread di funzionare simultaneamente su ogni core.
