EN→ITOverall, the ThinkPad SL510 is a solid Windows 7 machine. Its wide screen gives ample room to work without a full jump up to a monster-size model. The defining ThinkPad reliability is very much present, and its speed is admirable. True, battery life could be a bit better, and Lenovo really should have given the SL510 a bit more punch - you certainly won't want to try to play anything graphically demanding - but it's a surprisingly light, remarkably quick notebook. In short, it's a ThinkPad.

While it doesn't offer the nicer touchpad or rugged build quality of the T-series, it retails for almost half the starting price. The SL-series is a good option for users looking for only basic qualities in a notebook like a standard WXGA screen or integrated graphics. It still offers a great keyboard and extended batteries if you plan on typing documents all day without breaking the wallet.

Any changes to the venerable ThinkPad lineup come along with scrutiny, but this small business series was seen by many as a watering down of the brand. Ultimately the SL510 is a good buy in a highly competitive space where there are not really any clear standouts. It is a thoughtful evolution of the SL series as well as a step up from the SL500. The $499 starting price is there just to attract buyers, but for well under $1000 you can have a Windows 7 productivity machine.

EN→ITLenovo's ThinkPad SL510 is a refresh of their budget 15-inch ThinkPad lineup that coincides with the Windows 7 launch. The laptop retains a very business-like appearance with a bulky, boxy design that could really use some updating. Beyond the looks though, the system does perform extremely well thanks to a higher end Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB of DDR3 memory and a fast hard drive. It would be nice to see a dedicated graphics standard in the system but it is designed for small to medium-business users on a budget.

In the ThinkPad SL510, Lenovo delivers a mainstream 15.6-inch entry for the small-business market with some of the familiar ThinkPad comforts—namely, the comfortable keyboard and dual pointing devices—though with some corners cut to hit a $549 starting price for the line. The SL510 offers decent performance for productivity apps for small-business users, but some ThinkPad niceties have been jettisoned to keep the price low.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD: Scheda grafica intregrata basata sul chipset GM45 (Montevina). Più performante rispetto alla vecchia GMA X3100 grazie ha due shader in più ed ad un clock più elevato. Rimane, comunque, non consigliata per i giocatori più incalliti. Il processore video integrato è capace di codificare video HD (AVC/VC-2/MPEG2). Ad esempio permette la riproduzione di video HD compatibile con i requisiti del logo Blu-Ray, con il supporto nativo per unità Blu-Ray.
La maggior parte dei giochi attuali può essere giocata in modo fluido. Ma preparatevi ad una riduzione delle presentazioni grafiche considerando le impostazioni di dettaglio basse e la risoluzione limitata. Tuttavia, queste schede forniscono ancora abbastanza potenza per le applicazioni da ufficio e la proiezioni di video (ma non per i video HD).

Intel Core 2 Duo: Questo è il successore del Core Duo e del Core Solo con una pipeline più lunga ed il 5-20% di velocità in più senza avere maggiore consumo di energia. Come aggiunta al design del Core Duo esiste un quarto decoder, una unità amplificata SSE ed una unità logica aritmetica (ALU) addizionale. Il Core 2 Duo per portatili è identico al processore per desktop Core 2 Duo ma il processore per portatili lavora con un voltaggio inferiore (0.95 a 1188 Volt) ed un Frontside bus clock inferiore (1066 vs 667 MHz). Le prestazioni di portatili con clock equivalenti sono inferiori del 20-25% rispetto ai PCs Desktop a causa del Frontside bus clock inferiore e agli hard disks più lenti.
T6670: Core 2 Duo di fascia bassa basato sul core Penryn. Simile al C2D T6600 ma con virtualizzazione VT-x e temperature specifiche più elevate.

15.6": La variante di display da 15 pollici rientra tra lo standard ed è utilizzata da più della metà di tutti i portatili. I display da 15.4 pollici in 16:10 sono lo standard per i portatili. Attualmente, sempre più appaiono i displays 16:9 da 15.6 pollici. Lo svantaggio è che la lettura di testi è estenuante per gli occhi. Risoluzioni elevate difficilmente potranno essere utilizzate.

2.6 kg: Questo peso è medio per i notebooks. Di conseguenza la numerosità di portatili con schermo da 14-15 pollici è condizionata proprio dal peso.
