It continues to be a real shame that the one real issue we have with HP's laptops continues to be something we consider to be fairly standard and simple technology these days. Honestly, we don't need anything fancy when it comes to a touchpad -- just a large pad and two comfortable buttons. Other than its flaky navigation input, the $904 system – though it's a bit overpriced compared to the competition -- packs just the right balance of style, power and endurance. We much prefer the dm4's aesthetic to comparable systems like Dell's Inspiron 15 and Gateway's offerings. But of course, at the end of the day what good is all that if you can't push the cursor from one side of the screen without a problem?

HP: La Hewlett-Packard Company, fondata nel 1935, meglio nota come HP, è una società del settore tecnologico con sede principale in California, USA. HP è specializzata nello sviluppo e produzione di hardware per computing, archiviazione, networking, e software e servizi. La principale gamma di prodotti include dispositivi per il personal computing, servers enterprise, e relativi dispositivi di archiviazione, così come diverse categorie di stampanti ed altri prodotti per l'immagine. Altri settori di produzione, includono apparecchi e sistemi per test elettronici, apparecchiature mediche, componenti allo stato solido e strumentazione per analisi chimiche. HP ha dichiarato nel 2006 ricavi per 91.7 miliardi di dollari, con questo risultato si è affermata come la principale azienda tecnologica in termini di vendite. Intel HD Graphics 3000: 3 imminenti (Q1 2011) schede grafiche integrate nel processore Intel Sandy Bridge (Core ix-2xxx). La 3000 / 200 è la versione più veloce internamente chiamata GT2 con 12 Execution Units (EUs).

Intel Core i5:
430M: Il Core i5-430M è una CPU dual core di media classe che sfrutta solo 3 MB di L3 Cache (rispetto alla I7-640M) ed ha un clock tra 2.26-2.53 GHz (Turbo Mode). Inoltre, nella 430M mancano VT-d, trusted Execution e funzioni AES. Grazie all'Hyperthreading, possono essere gestiti 4 threads contemporaneamente. Nel pacchetto sono incluse anche una scheda grafica integrata (Intel HD Graphics da 500-733 MHz) ed un controller memoria DDR3.
450M: Dovrebbe essere simile alla Core i5-520M ma senza funzioni AES.
460M: L'Intel Core i5-460M è una CPU dual core di fascia alta per portatili ed ha un clock (grazie al Turbo Mode) da 2.53 a 2.8 GHz. Ogni core si basa sulla micro architettura Nehalem (Westemere). L'hyperthreading consente alla CPU Dual Core di gestire 4 threads contemporaneamente (per un miglior utilizzo della pipeline).
2410M: Processore dual-core basato sulla architettura Sandy Bridge con una scheda grafica integrata ed un controller di memoria dual-channel DDR3. La CPU ha un clock da 2.3 GHz (Turbo Boost 2.6-2.9 GHz) e la GPU da 650 (1200 MHz Turbo).
Intel Core i3:
2310M: Processore dual-core basato sull'architettura Sandy Bridge con una scheda grafica integrata ed un controller di memoria dual-channel DDR3. La CPU ha un clock da 2.1 GHz e sfrutta il Turbo Boost 2.0 solo per la scheda grafica (650/1100MHz).
14.0: I display da 14 pollici sono un misto tra i formati piccoli dei subnotebooks ed i 15 pollici dei display standard. La ragione per cui così tante persone preferiscono displays con dimensioni medie dipende dal fatto che tale dimensione non crea particolari problemi alla vista, non richiede troppa energia ed i portatili riescono ad avere dimensioni abbastanza compatte.
