HP's Envy 6-1001tx is an Ultrabook that's large, but it just squeezes into Intel's requirements for thickness. It's a good model to consider if you want a thin and reasonably light notebook for gaming. You get a good configuration with lots of RAM, storage and graphics power, but it doesn't have an Ivy Bridge CPU. It's a notebook that's well built and it feels good to use. It just needs a better screen and Wi-Fi adapter.

Although the screen on the HP Envy 6 is rather disappointing, it makes significant power improvements over its smaller Envy 4 brother. With the latest Intel Ivy Bridge chips on board, it's much better equipped for handling more intense tasks. As it only costs £50 extra over the Envy 4, it's definitely worth forking out for the additional power.

In the end, it’s up to you to decide if the HP Envy 6t is worth the cash and should or should not become your next notebook. Also, you must understand that regular sized laptops will offer better performances than this one, while going for 100-200 bucks less. So you’ll have to decide if sacrificing those for the sleek and light body and the slightly better battery life is for sure what you want right now.

Ultrabooks in the 15.6-inch category are few and far between, so we're glad to see HP go down that road, even if most others are reluctant to do so. Unfortunately, HP didn't go the distance, stopping well short of taking advantage of that extra screen real estate. Users would be better served with a Full HD 1080p resolution (1920x1080) or even 1600x900, but 1366x768? That's a missed opportunity.

The design is appealing, the midnight black color is professional while the red trim gives it a sporty look. The audio quality is above average for both 15” laptops and Ultrabooks and the number of ports you get is also great. Performance varies depending on which processor and graphics card you select, but even the base level Core i5 will be enough to zip through standard usage patterns such as browsing the web with multiple tabs, watching HD video streamed from the web, office applications or some Photoshop work. With the Intel HD 4000 or AMD 7670M graphics you could even do a little gaming running the latest games. The big negatives for the Envy 6t are the screen that really should be higher resolution than 1366 x 768 given its size, plus the keyboard is simply lackluster. The battery is non-replaceable and you can’t make any after purchase upgrades, which is a con, but one you get with any Ultrabook.

HP: Fondata nel 1939, l'azienda statunitense è un importante produttore di server e stampanti e una delle aziende IT leader a livello mondiale. Fino al 2015, la società si chiamava Hewlett-Packard Company. Dopo una scissione, la divisione computer è stata ribattezzata HP Inc.

Nel 2023, HP deteneva una quota di mercato approssimativa del 22% delle vendite globali di PC, diventando così il numero 2 dopo Lenovo.

Ridurre la distanza delle Schede Grafiche per gli utenti che vogliono utilizzare il videogiochi. I nuovi giochi dovrebbero funzionare su queste schede, ma con riduzione dei dettagli e risoluzione mediocre.

AMD Radeon HD 7670M: Si tratta di una Radeon HD 6650M con un nome diverso e di conseguenza è ancora prodotta in 40nm.

La maggior parte dei giochi attuali può essere giocata in modo fluido. Ma preparatevi ad una riduzione delle presentazioni grafiche considerando le impostazioni di dettaglio basse e la risoluzione limitata. Tuttavia, queste schede forniscono ancora abbastanza potenza per le applicazioni da ufficio e la proiezioni di video (ma non per i video HD).

Intel HD Graphics 4000: Processore grafico high end tra i modelli Ivy Bridge. Offre una differente velocità clock nei diversi modelli di CPU (da ULV a desktop quad core) e di conseguenza con prestazioni variabili.

AMD Radeon HD 7500G: Scheda grafica per processore realizzata nella serie di APUs AMD Trinity ULV-A6. Si basa sull'architettura VLIW4 della serie desktop Radeon HD 6900.

Soltanto i giochi datasi possono essere giocati in modo fluido con questi chips grafici (se non richiedono troppe prestazioni). I cores con memoria grafica condivisa in questa categoria hanno il vantaggio delle minori emissioni di calore e della maggiore autonomia della batteria. Per ufficio, internet, image processing, e video editing queste schede grafiche sono utilizzabili senza particolari problematiche.

Intel HD Graphics 3000: 3 imminenti (Q1 2011) schede grafiche integrate nel processore Intel Sandy Bridge (Core ix-2xxx). La 3000 / 200 è la versione più veloce internamente chiamata GT2 con 12 Execution Units (EUs).

2467M: Processore ULV a risparmio energetico con clock tra 1.6-2.3 GHz grazie al Turbo Boost. Offre una HD 3000 integrata con clock tra 350 / 1150 MHz ed un controller di memoria DDR3-1333.

3317U: CPU ULV Ivy-Bridge-based del secondo quadrimestre 2012. Offre un core clock di 1.7 - 2.6 GHz ed una HD 4000 GPU (350 - 1050 MHz). Il TDP è di 17 W.
