POCO F5 Pro per me è il vero flagship killer del 2023, uno smartphone che offre tanta sostanza e hardware ad un prezzo corretto. A dicembre 2023 il prezzo di questo smartphone è ottimo, è facile trovare la versione 12/256GB in offerta sui 400€ acquistandolo dal Mi Store. In questa fascia di prezzo troviamo anche il buon Xiaomi 13T con un comparto fotografico migliore ma, a mio avviso, più indicato ad un pubblico consumer che non cerca le prestazioni e il grande supporto alle custom rom che può offrire POCO F5 Pro.

POCO F5 e F5 Pro sono due smartphone che puntano ad un pubblico generale grazie alle loro specifiche complete. Rispetto agli scorsi anni i prezzi si sono adattati al mercato, ma rimangono ottime alternative in questa fascia. POCO F5 a partire da 429,90 euro può essere una scelta molto interessante, grazie ad un software ben implementato, il jack audio (sempre comodo), un'autonomia duratura e un design giovanile. Il Pro dalla sua parte monta un SoC molto potente difficile da trovare in questa fascia di prezzo e la ricarica wireless. Che si scelga POCO F5 o POCO F5 Pro non si sbaglia, ma forse la versione più economica rimane la migliore per rapporto qualità-prezzo.

POCO F5 è disponibile in Italia dal 9 maggio 2023 al prezzo di 429 euro nel taglio base da 8/256 GB, sale a 479 euro nel taglio da 12/256GB. Nello stesso giorno POCO ha annunciato anche POCO F5 Pro che presenta alcune specifiche tecniche superiori e un prezzo di partenza di 579 euro. Complessivamente si è dimostrato uno degli smartphone più interessanti del 2023, la scelta di adottare un processore così recente (annunciato solo a marzo 2023) è da elogiare in un periodo dove le aziende tendono a preferire componenti datati, e viene premiato da una resa finalmente superiore rispetto alla media. Se siete alla ricerca di uno smartphone che offra il giusto compromesso tra potenza, surriscaldamento e durata della batteria, questa è una delle alternative più attuali che possiate trovare sulla fascia media.

Il prezzo di questo POCO F5 in versione 8/256GB è di 429 euro ma che al lancio diventano 379 euro (o 399 per il 12/256) e ci stanno. Buon medio di gamma, con un bel display e ottima autonomia. Lo preferisco al Pro, che costa 100 euro in più offrendo poco di più, anzi, F5 è pure più ergonomico.

Al netto di offerte sul sito Poco (e anche su altre piattaforme online) Poco F5 esce con un listino di 429.90 € per la variante 8/256 e 479.90 € per la variante 12/256. Sono pochi? Sono tanti? Intanto Poco ha deciso, in occasione del lancio, di scontare moltissimo il dispositivo abbassando il prezzo a 379.90 € (8/256) e 399.90 € (12/256). Dimenticandoci offerte no IVA, cali fisiologici di prezzo e regali vari sui vecchi medi gamma potremmo anche azzardare a definire corretto il prezzo di listino del Poco F5 e addirittura molto vantaggiosa l’offerta lancio, che -come ben sappiamo- sicuramente rappresenta il prezzo che troveremo a lungo12 in rete. Ripeto, senza contare naturalmente i vecchi medi deprezzati (dopo tutto tra poco anche Poco F5 diventerà tale!).

La recensione di Poco F5, una certezza nella fascia media

Il Poco F5 che abbiamo valutato in questa recensione (12+256GB) costa 479,90 euro al lancio, anche se Poco ci ha spiegato che il prezzo da “early bird” fino al 16 di maggio è di 399,90. Il modello da 8+256GB costa 429,90 euro, ma entro il 16 potrete pagarlo 379,90 euro. Lo smartphone ci è piaciuto e risulta molto completo. Bello schermo, fotocamera solida e prestazioni/batteria davvero ottime per la fascia media. Ma a prezzo pieno, la competizione inizia a farsi complicata. Sotto i 400 euro, invece, ci sono pochi smartphone che sanno fare tutto altrettanto bene. Trovate magari modelli che fanno scatti anche migliori, ma hanno uno schermo sottotono. Oppure che sono poco scattanti o con una ricarica rapida deludente. Poco F5 ha tutto. Se riuscite a prenderlo al prezzo da early bird (o addirittura meno), è consigliato.

Recensione POCO F5: si sceglie per peso, batteria e prestazioni | Video

Prima di trarre le conclusioni per questo POCO F5 facciamo un piccolo riassunto: peso piuma per uno smartphone di questo segmento e tipo, display eccellente e bordi sottilissimi, connettività completissima, qualche dubbio sul supporto software, prestazioni fantastiche e batteria incredibile, fotocamera principale discreta ma secondarie pressochè inutili, selfie al limite dell'accettabile, audio buono ma meno corposo dell'F5, microfoni mediocri e sensore di prossimità fisico. Preso quanto elencato e posto al prezzo di listino di 429€/479€ in base alla configurazione dello storage scelto otteniamo uno smartphone ottimo ma che soffre la concorrenza in casa dei Redmi Note 12 Pro che sono ufficialmente calati sotto la soglia dei 300€ e dei competitor quali Galaxy A54 o dei prossimi Motorola Edge 40. Personalmente tirerei in ballo anche il Google Pixel 7a che si avvicina sornione alla presentazione ed avrà un prezzo di poco più alto offrendo però in aspetti come la fotocamera e il supporto software una esperienza completamente differente. Occhio ai cali di prezzo perchè proprio come i Note 12 che hanno perso sin da subito quei 50-100€ anche qui l'offerta e lo sconto può essere sempre dietro l'angolo e con una scontistica di quel tipo POCO F5 diventerebbe uno smartphone difficile da battere per chiunque. Se mi chiedeste: "Marco lo terresti ancora per qualche settimana ora che hai finito di testarlo?" la mia risposta sarebbe affermativa, avesse avuto l'IMX766 del Redmi Note 12 Pro sarebbe stata la perfezione. E il POCO F5 Pro? Vi anticipo che mi ci sto trovando benissimo ed in attesa della sua recensione approfondita scritta qui sul blog vi invito a cogliere le mie considerazione nel video che abbiamo pubblicato sul canale YouTube!

POCO F5 currently costs approximately 350 euros. Is it worth it? I don't think this will be a bad purchase. There are no major flaws with this phone, but there are some minor flaws and a few things that didn't really convince me. Still, overall the phone is quite nice and anyone who buys it while being aware of these few imperfections should be satisfied. Therefore, it is not a particularly high-risk purchase. However, before you decide to buy this model, I recommend checking out other shops’ offers. While visiting the official Xiaomi website, I found a slightly more expensive POCO 4 GT model with a more powerful processor and better gaming parameters. This may be a more serious choice, but if your budget is around 350 euros and you are considering offers from Xiaomi and related brands, POCO F5 is also a choice worth considering.

At its starting price of Rs 29,999 for 8 GB/ 256 GB, the Poco F5 is pretty much in a zone of its own if all you want is a phone with a powerful new chip that is capable of high-end gaming. Perhaps the most obvious is its own sibling, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+, which might not have as powerful a chip (it runs on the Dimensity 1050) but comes with a much better 200-megapixel main sensor and also 120W fast charging. Those looking for a more eye-catching design might also think of the Nothing Phone (1), which is perhaps the most striking device in the segment even more than a year after its release, and remains a very good performer. POCO has been releasing rather compelling devices for years now. Price tags are really important when we talk about POCO devices. The company always tries to offer the best hardware for the price, and it seems like it managed to do so here, yet again. Both of these devices look very compelling on paper, though the ‘Pro’ model more so due to its processor. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is still a beast of an SoC, but the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 is no slouch either. Neither phone has any critical flaws, while they offer good displays with high refresh rate, really good performance, fast charging, and more. The POCO F5 Pro still needs an update or two in order for the camera to become better, as it has the same camera hardware as the POCO F5. All in all, for the price, these two phones are solid offerings. Not everyone wants to spend over $1,000/€1,000 on a phone.

As a successor to the very first Pocophone, the Poco F5 is a phone worthy of the Poco F1 heritage, even without using a top-of-the-line Snapdragon processor. The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chip on the Xiaomi phone offered similar performance to all non-gaming flagship phones from 2021 and 2022 in games and daily apps, without the overheating issues that affected those devices. The Poco F5 unfortunately doesn’t improve things much in the camera department compared to its predecessors, but that was never Poco’s mission. And the Redmi Note 12’s DNA can be seen clearly in the questionable selection of secondary cameras, which could be much more useful with a telephoto lens. Another negative point is the number of third-party apps preinstalled, but by this point, it seems to be a tradeoff to have the device at a lower price range.

Finally, we come to the cameras. The Poco F5 5G features a similar setup as last year's model with a primary 64-megapixel camera with optical stabilisation (OIS), an 8-megapixel ultra-wide, and a 2-megapixel macro. For selfies, you get a 16-megapixel front camera. We hope the camera quality has improved from last year's model, which struggled in low-light situations. The Poco F5 5G seems to be a decent upgrade over its predecessor as far as the SoC and battery capacity go. I think the design could have been better as the F4 5G looked a lot more premium in my opinion. We'll have our final verdict for you in the full review. Out of the new Poco F5 series, I’d say the Poco F5 is a better bang for your buck overall. Yes, it lacks a higher-resolution display, but it still offers a great viewing experience and audio quality. As mentioned at the beginning of this review, Poco has given the F5 much of what is great about the more expensive model, so you get more than enough of that more premium experience for less money: great display and stereo speakers to enjoy content; long-lasting battery life and fast charging; and a good front-facing camera. The camera system on the phone's back could be better, but the main shooter is decent enough to take snapshots to share with friends and family on your socials.
