Tirando le somme, questo smartphone da gaming targato POCO è davvero eccellente. Le prestazioni ordinarie sono ottime, infatti la fluidità e la reattività si avvicinano molto a quelle dei top di gamma. In ambito gaming la situazione non cambia, con un controllo ottimale delle temperature e un software che gestisce bene il tutto. Molto apprezzati i due tasti popup, che danno a questo device una marcia in più e permettono di giocare al meglio anche in mobilità.

POCO F4 GT è uno smartphone da gaming e colpisce dritto al punto rivolgendosi a chi vuole il top delle performance. E’ velocissimo grazie allo Snapdragon 8 Gen1 e le memorie UFS 3.1 che ad oggi garantiscono una delle accoppiate migliori per giocare a praticamente qualunque titolo presente sul PlayStore a qualità elevata e con prestazioni costanti. Ovviamente quello che fa la differenza in questo smartphone non è il chipset e neanche la suite Game Turbo Toolbox, che seppur utilissima e funzionale, non garantisce quel Plus rispetto alla concorrenza. POCO F4 GT è uno smartphone che sa bene cosa può offrire a quale pubblico: è già difficile trovare uno smartphone con Snapdragon 8gen1 sotto i 700€ ma POCO lo fa in maniera egregia rivolgendosi a chi vuole uno smartphone da gioco con l’aggiunta dei tasti fisici a scomparsa e di performance da top gamma. Dovremo chiudere un occhio per la qualità fotografica, ma se questa non è una nostra priorità in uno smartphone allora il POCO F4 GT ha tutte le carte al posto giusto per chiamarsi gaming-phone:

Ci troviamo davanti ad un prodotto davvero particolare, che riesce a differenziarsi dalla massa per la cura di alcuni dettagli, vedi il cavo di ricarica angolare e i trigger. Nel suo essere “gaming” il POCO F4 GT non riesce tuttavia nel miracolo: lo Snapdragon con alcuni giochi, a 60 fps e dettagli al massimo, scalda e scalda tanto. La LiquidCool Technology 3.0, ma questo vale anche per molte altre soluzioni di dissipazione decantate, serve a poco: se prendiamo Fortnite Mobile e giochiamo 30 minuti, al termine della partita il telefono è bollente e i 60 fps iniziali sono diventati 30. Una persona interessata ad uno smartphone per giocare è anche una persona attenta alle prestazioni, che cambierà telefono non appena uscirà un modello capace di tenere i 60 fps costanti, che avrà magari il ray tracing e che potrà spingere l’esperienza di gioco ad uno step superiore.

Stesso discorso per l’obbiettivo frontale, da 20 MP e apertura focale f/2,5. Niente che faccia urlare al miracolo, ma decisamente più che apprezzabile nel complesso. Tasto inevitabilmente dolente, per l’autonomia, che cola a picco durante le lunghe sessioni di gioco. Un limite quasi endemico per questo dispositivo, ma che non possiamo fare a meno di segnalare tra i suoi punti deboli, stemperato in parte dall’alimentatore da 120 Watt in grado di ricaricarlo del tutto in una ventina di minuti.

POCO F4 GT si pone un obiettivo non semplice, ovvero mettere insieme uno smartphone studiato innanzitutto per giocare, con performance da top di gamma e un prezzo allettante. Tra l'altro proponendosi al lancio già con la combo Android 12 e MIUI 13. Lo Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 è un punto di partenza solidissimo in questo senso e una serie di attenzioni, dai tasti dorsali magnetici al generosissimo sistema di dissipazione, riescono a porre le condizioni perché in effetti un giocatore appassionato possa farne il suo nuovo dispositivo di riferimento. E questo è vero soprattutto se si decide di sfruttare le offerte pre lancio (valide fino al 29 aprile), che vedono il prezzo dell’8/128 scendere a 499€ (da 599) e quello del 12/256 a 599€ (da 699). Certo bisogna tenere a mente che ci sono alcuni limiti oggettivi, come quelli del comparto fotografico e del peso piuttosto importante, ma l’F4 GT non fa nulla per nasconderli e non prova a stringere l’occhio all’utenza più generalista,...

Da oggi al 29 il prezzo per la versione 8/128GB di 499 euro è davvero da best buy, così come quello di 599 euro per la 12/256GB. Successivamente si passerà a 599 e 699, non proprio da best buy ma comunque interessanti grazie anche ai 2 mesi di YouTube Premium inclusi e ad una sostituzione di display per rottura nei primi 6 mesi. Il rapporto prezzo/hardware è ottimo, così come il display e la velocità, la batteria è nella media e fotocamera non al top ma ok. La MIUI ha sempre qualche sbavatura ma la potenza del processore in questo caso ci mette una pezza, comunque l'ho trovato affidabile. Insomma, best buy fra gli Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, solo un po' pesante.

POCO F4 GT, che tra l'altro è il primo GT ad approdare in Europa, incarna perfettamente ciò che cercavamo in questo 2022. Infatti, in un periodo in cui un po' tutti, Xiaomi compresa, mirano alla fascia Premium con prezzi elevati, un flagship killer giovane e sul pezzo ci voleva. A un prezzo di partenza early bird di 499,90 euro, quasi la metà rispetto ai top di gamma attuali, l'utente si può portare a casa un dispositivo che punta al top a livello prestazionale, grazie alla presenza del processore Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, nonché dal reparto connettività completo di 5G e Wi-Fi 6E. Non mancano, poi, un ottimo display AMOLED con refresh rate di 120 Hz e chicche come i trigger pop-up fisici dorsali, che generalmente sarebbero prerogativa degli smartphone da gaming. Anche se è la definizione che abbiamo usato noi stessi nel corso di questa recensione, riferirsi a POCO F4 GT come gaming phone è quasi limitante per un dispositivo che si comporta molto bene come telefonino a tutto tondo: giocarci è un piacere grazie agli ottimi grilletti magnetici, ma una scheda tecnica di primissimo profilo e un design curato quanto basta, lo rendono uno smartphone potente e versatile, oltretutto disponibile a prezzi davvero intriganti. Magari non conterà su feature rivoluzionarie e su caratteristiche da primatista assoluto, ma POCO F4 GT è uno smartphone ben concepito e realizzato che merita senz'altro di essere preso in considerazione, che si sia o meno appassionati di mobile gaming.

The bottom line is that this is a very good phone, just not one that excels at its unique selling point. That's a very weird position to be in, for sure. We'd recommend you look at this as a very decently priced handset with a flagship chipset and consider the gaming bells and whistles as quirky bonuses on top of that. You also need to be able to live with the definitely not-amazing camera system. That said, average cameras are pretty much par for the course in the 'flagship killer' or 'affordable flagship' space, and the Poco F4 GT is probably best described as a flagship killer with a gaming twist. It's perfect if you want to feel different but not so much different that it gets uncomfortable. It delivers nicely in some areas (performance before it throttles, battery life, screen quality, handling, speakers), greatly in others (smoothness, charging speed, the vibration motor, the fingerprint sensor), and not so much in some others still (camera image quality, sustained performance). It's definitely a quirky package, but some people are quirky people with quirky needs, and if yours match what the Poco F4 GT can offer, you'll have a great time with it.

As I judge POCO F4 GT As I mentioned, we have a choice of two memory versions - 8 and 128 GB for $ 429, 12 and 256 GB for $ 529. Of course, there are promotions and I definitely recommend hunting for them, because prices can sometimes drop quite significantly, but if I were to buy this phone, it would be for games, and then I would definitely prefer a more expensive variant with more RAM and internal memory. But would I buy this phone at all? If I were a mobile gamer, it would be very possible. POCO F4 GT can convince with lightning-fast charging, a decent screen, additional triggers, good performance and very nice speakers. However, if I were looking for a smartphone for everyday use, I would look for something that offers better photographic opportunities, of course at the cost of giving up these gaming accessories. For this reason, it is not my first choice telephone, but the device is actually quite nice.

The Poco F4 GT is a gaming phone that costs significantly less than the no-holds-barred Androids from hardcore series like Asus’s RoG. It goes beyond the traditional Poco formula of just slotting in an above average processor and keeping the price low, most notably through its nifty pop-up magnetic trigger buttons. However, after using the Poco F4 GT for a few weeks its shortcomings start to throw significant shade on the bespoke features. The phone gets quite hot a lot, and while its peak performance is brilliant, thermal throttling means its real-world performance isn’t dramatically better than a less gaming-focused mobile. Battery life is too short for comfort and the camera is, unsurprisingly, nothing to crow about considering some of the competition available. Like just about all Poco phones, the Poco F4 GT represents decent value for its spec and build, but is ultimately harder to recommend than some of the series’s cheaper models.

For a phone priced in the mid-range segment, the Poco F4 GT gets a huge amount right. It's fast, there's a big screen and even bigger, booming speakers, but there's also some neat touches, like the LED lighting on the back and the shoulder trigger buttons. The biggest downside here is that MIUI - Xiaomi's skin - still needs a lot of taming to make it behave in the way that we want it to, with lots of needless layers and apps. It's the only thing really stopping this from being a truly great device. We also have questions about why the Poco F4 GT actually exists, too - or, rather, why it exists alongside the extremely similar Redmi K50 Gaming and latest Black Shark phone. Really, it just seems like an exercise in fine-tuning branding, marketing and offering some minor features in order to reach a tiny niche of people. However, there's no doubting that - for its price tag - the F4 GT delivers a heck of an experience, and is absolutely a phone worth considering if you want top tier performance and don't want to spend lots of money.

The Poco F4 GT showed uneven performance in battery, with an excellent charging experience, but an underwhelming autonomy. Despite a respectable 4700 mAh dual-cell battery, the device struggled in all our autonomy-related tests, especially in our on-the-go test where it ranks last of all the devices we’ve tested so far. Poco has not succeeded in taming the very performant and power-hungry Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, leading to high discharge currents across the board, even when compared to other devices that are equipped with the same chipset. What the Poco F4 GT lacks in autonomy, it makes up for with an outstanding charge experience. You can expect to go from an empty battery to a fully charged one in less than a half an hour. We measured a peak charging power of 113W, just shy of the advertised 120W, but sufficient enough to be among the very best in our rankings. With a very good 81% energy efficiency from the electrical outlet to the battery, the only minor stain on this otherwise excellent charging experience is the adapter’s high residual power consumption when the device is not plugged.

The F4 GT proves quite deft as a recording device, from the audio produced in its video apps to its basic recording app. Though it is worth noting that it records in mono in selfie video. The device produces good tonal balance and dynamics across use cases. In playback overall, the F4 GT stands in average-to-good territory, with no major flaws. Its score in artifacts, however, was exceptional, matching the top mark in our database.

If you’re looking for a solid gaming phone with a flagship CPU that won’t cost you nearly £1,000, you’d be hard pressed to find much better than the Poco F4 GT. It offers excellent performance, a wide 120Hz display to game on, and sleek, well-placed magnetic triggers that will up your gaming prowess on the go. What’s more, it’s a good phone for everyday tasks as well. The downside is it falls into the trap of usual gaming phone traits. While the gaming software boosts are good, MIUI 13 is pretty generic, and you shouldn’t get the Poco F4 GT for its photography capabilities. Still, as someone who plays more games than takes snapshots, I don’t mind sacrificing camera quality for better gaming performance. It’s a shame about the lack of an audio jack, though.

You’re also getting a large battery, a 3.5mm port, and fast charging with the Red Magic, but those hoping for wireless charging, great cameras, an IP rating, and a similar price should look elsewhere. Another solid alternative is the Google Pixel 6 (€649) You’re not getting shoulder triggers or super-fast charging though, but great camera quality, water resistance, and wireless charging all help deliver a well-rounded experience.

Anyone searching for a game-friendly phone that’s a little more subtle than the usual RGB-infused fare should absolutely consider the Poco F4 GT. It’s fast and has a great screen, and those pop-up triggers really do make all the difference when playing. It does lose out on a few features we’d expect from a gaming phone, like a headphone jack and expandable storage. Battery life is also firmly in the mid-tier. The camera is decent enough at this price, though you don’t have to spend much more to get a more versatile set of lenses, and better quality overall. Still, given it manages to undercut other affordable flagships, especially for anyone that manages to bag one during Poco’s early-bird sales offer. It’s still a nifty alternative choice for those on a reasonable budget that also like to get their game on every now and then.

Gaming chops in grown-up-friendly attire feels like an odd crossover, but that's the vibe we're getting from the Poco F4 GT. The latest Snapdragon joins a pair of snappy-clicky shoulder triggers so that the handset can stand its ground against the ROGs of the world, and the consumption side is similarly well taken care of by a great display and big-sounding speakers. Battery life may be middle of the road and the camera system is hardly impressive , but neither is strictly bad so as to be a dealbreaker, and it's not like rivals set a particularly high bar in either respect. We're even willing to forgive some odd branding on the back of the phone - we're easily distracted by RGB LEDs. Phones that's place a higher priority on picturetaking have gotten away with limited zooming capability too. And it's not like rivals set a particularly high bar in either respect. 'Apex of power' might be a bit of grandstanding, but marketing likes big words. Looking past them, there's a phone well worth considering.

The POCO smartphone series has always been a game-changer and the POCO F4 GT brings that up a notch with its flagship-level hardware but at a mid-range price point. This is the most affordable gaming smartphone running on Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset and with the 12GB of onboard RAM (+3GB Memory Extension), it’s hard to ignore what this phone is capable of and put all other flagship phones that are already in the market on notice. Solid construction with aluminum and glass materials. Check. Superfast wired charging. Check. Great audio quality. Check. Processor and memory. Check! It’s not perfect and if we want to nitpick, we’d say the cameras can be better, a microSD card slot would have been nice, or the absence of an IP67 rating and 3.5mm audio port could have made it more appealing. But such is life and we can’t have it all. But for something priced starting at under PHP 28K, there isn’t really anything else holding us back from recommending this phone.

Chip grafico per smartphone e tablet integrato nel SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Qualcomm sostiene che è il 30% più veloce dell'Adreno 660 nel SoC Snapdragon 888. Per Android dovrebbe essere una delle schede grafiche più veloci alla fine del 2021.
