The Toshiba Satellite R945-P440 gets a 3-star rating for a couple of reasons. Although it’s thoroughly mediocre—middling in its performance, screen, and touchpad—it also offers a couple of highlights that will appeal to a certain market. First of all, it’s a sturdy machine. Seriously, this thing is built like a tank. And since it has a spill-proof keyboard, it might make for an excellent family laptop (let’s face it, family laptops don’t exactly lead cushy, cared-for lives). Second, it boasts a roomy hard drive, decent battery life, and a great selection of ports. Finally, the R945-P440 is well connected, with built-in Wi-Fi 802.11a/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, WiDi, two USB 3.0 ports, and a gigabit ethernet port. Even though the R945-P440 isn’t impressive in any specific way, it’s solidly constructed and it isn’t too expensive.

Dated looks aside, the Toshiba Satellite R945-P440 is a solid mainstream laptop, and one of the few available as ultrabooks take over the laptop market. While decent performance and all-day battery life may not be enough for the Satellite R945-P440 to unseat the Lenovo IdeaPad Y480 as our Editors' Choice, it's certainly a reasonable alternative for shoppers who don't need quad-core power and want to save a bit at the register.

Intel HD Graphics 4000: Processore grafico high end tra i modelli Ivy Bridge. Offre una differente velocità clock nei diversi modelli di CPU (da ULV a desktop quad core) e di conseguenza con prestazioni variabili.

La maggior parte dei giochi attuali può essere giocata in modo fluido. Ma preparatevi ad una riduzione delle presentazioni grafiche considerando le impostazioni di dettaglio basse e la risoluzione limitata. Tuttavia, queste schede forniscono ancora abbastanza potenza per le applicazioni da ufficio e la proiezioni di video (ma non per i video HD).
