Battery life is another matter, though. The Lenovo could only survive four-and-a-half hours of light use, and a little over four hours with heavy workloads. It’s a versatile machine for the money, but the B50-30 isn’t the most well-balanced laptop around.

This isn't the kind of machine designed for high-intensity gaming or tough work applications, and that's clear from the benchmark results – the Lenovo B50's processor and screen are only able to cope with basic, general computing. The keyboard is good, it's reasonably well-built, and battery life is a little better than rivals. This machine is a good budget buy if the superior Toshiba Satellite C50 is too expensive.

The Lenovo B50 looked interesting on paper but the reality is it’s a cheap laptop for a reason. Its build quality is poor and its performance even worse. If you’re looking for a basic laptop for browsing the internet and other basic tasks, you are better off looking at a Chromebook, such as the HP Chromebook 14, or if you are sticking to a similar budget then the smaller Asus X200MA is superior.

You can't expect a notebook that starts at £190.83 (ex. VAT, £229 inc. VAT) to be brimming with bells and whistles, but you have every right to expect a solid workhorse. Although it's a moderate performer and only has one USB 3.0 port, the Lenovo B50-30 is an excellent option for those seeking a low-cost Windows laptop.

Intel HD Graphics (Bay Trail): GPU Bay Trail SoCs integrata per tablet e notebook. Si basa sulla GPU Ivy Bridge con quattro Execution Units e supporta DirectX 11.

Soltanto i giochi datasi possono essere giocati in modo fluido con questi chips grafici (se non richiedono troppe prestazioni). I cores con memoria grafica condivisa in questa categoria hanno il vantaggio delle minori emissioni di calore e della maggiore autonomia della batteria. Per ufficio, internet, image processing, e video editing queste schede grafiche sono utilizzabili senza particolari problematiche.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" dalla leggenda inglese, novo (latino) per nuovo) è stata fondata nel 1984 come società cinese di commercio di computer. Nel 2004, l'azienda era il più grande produttore di laptop in Cina e, dopo aver acquisito la divisione PC di IBM nel 2005, il quarto più grande al mondo. Oltre a desktop e notebook, l'azienda produce monitor, proiettori, server, ecc. ed è specializzata nello sviluppo, produzione e commercializzazione di elettronica di consumo, personal computer, software, soluzioni aziendali e servizi correlati.

Nel 2016, l'azienda si è classificata al primo posto al mondo nelle vendite di computer. Lo deteneva ancora nel 2023 con una quota di mercato globale di circa il 23%. Importanti linee di prodotti sono Thinkpad, Legion e Ideapad.

Nel 2011 ha acquisito una partecipazione di maggioranza in Medion AG, un produttore europeo di hardware per computer. Nel 2014 è stata acquistata Motorola Mobility, che ha dato a Lenovo una spinta nel mercato degli smartphone.
