The HP Pavilion dm4 is very nearly a solid all-rounder, and a laptop that we'd heartily recommend. Unfortunately, that ropey touchpad regularly ruined our mood, and conjured forth a stream of expletives. Still, there's plenty to like, from the slim and light form to the excellent Core i5 performance, and few other flaws. If you can try out the Pavilion dm4 in a store then we'd recommend you do so, to see if you can tolerate the touchpad.

We took a look at the HP Pavilion dm3-1105ea last month and concluded that, while it looked pretty cool, it was slightly lacking in the performance department. The HP Pavilion dm4-1050ea is a well-built laptop that'll serve you well for everyday computing purposes, although the lack of a dedicated graphics card means it's not as powerful as some of its rivals.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) HD Graphics:

Soltanto i giochi datasi possono essere giocati in modo fluido con questi chips grafici (se non richiedono troppe prestazioni). I cores con memoria grafica condivisa in questa categoria hanno il vantaggio delle minori emissioni di calore e della maggiore autonomia della batteria. Per ufficio, internet, image processing, e video editing queste schede grafiche sono utilizzabili senza particolari problematiche.

430M: Il Core i5-430M è una CPU dual core di media classe che sfrutta solo 3 MB di L3 Cache (rispetto alla I7-640M) ed ha un clock tra 2.26-2.53 GHz (Turbo Mode). Inoltre, nella 430M mancano VT-d, trusted Execution e funzioni AES. Grazie all'Hyperthreading, possono essere gestiti 4 threads contemporaneamente. Nel pacchetto sono incluse anche una scheda grafica integrata (Intel HD Graphics da 500-733 MHz) ed un controller memoria DDR3.
