Is Gigabyte's touchscreen netbook too feature-packed for its own good? Gigabyte's netbook range is quite small compared to its rivals, but its two flagship products include unique designs that stand out from the crowd. The T1028 – also known as the Touch Note – is its touchscreen model and proves to be something of a mixed bag. While the T1028 is well built and usable, its low battery life and bulky design mean it is far from an essential purchase.

This convertible tablet netbook offers decent performance and good endurance, but the touchscreen experience could be more robust. The Gigabyte Touch Note T1028X is a compelling netbook tablet. It’s small and light enough to carry around in the crook of your arm, and it’s powerful enough so that basic touch-enabled apps respond quickly. However, because this system lacks any sort of user interface that would lend itself to touch-based computing, we suspect a large number of buyers will either want to upgrade the T1028 to Windows 7 themselves or wait for Gigabyte to sell a multitouch version of the device.

The Gigabyte TouchNote T1028X is probably one of the best netbooks I’ve ever used in terms of build quality and performance. It’s a bit heavy, but the touchscreen works exactly as it should, making the netbook useful in both clamshell and tablet mode. The integrated 3G is also going to be a major selling point for some users.

Queste schede grafiche per portatili non sono adatte al gaming. Anche se dovessero funzionare, ci sarebbero diversi errori grafici e un frame rate molto basso. Questi chips non sono affatto per i gamers! Applicazioni internet e da ufficio, invece non sono problematiche per queste GPUs.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950: Il nuovo core di grafica Intel® GMA 950 è un motore grafico intelligente e dai tempi di risposta rapidi integrato nel chipset presente sulla scheda madre. Non propriamente adatta per giocare.

Intel Atom:

La Intel Atom è una serie a 64-Bit di microprocessori (non tutti i modelli supportano 64bit) per portatili economici e piccoli (chiamati comunemente netbooks), MIDs, o UMPCs (Ultra Mibile Persona Computer). La particolarità della nuova architettura è l'esecuzione "in order" (al posto della consueta e più veloce esecuzione "out of order"). Di conseguenza il transistor count della serie Atom è abbastanza inferiore, e quindi più economico da produrre. Inoltre, il consumo di energia è molto contenuto. Le prestazioni per Megahertz sono ovviamente peggiori rispetto ai vecchi Pentium 3M (1,2 GHz alla pari di 1.6 GHz Atom).

N280: CPU single core economico e lento, a basso consumo, per Netbook. A causa dell'esecuzione in-order, le prestazioni per MHz sono peggiori rispetto ad un processore Core Solo o ad un Celeron M. Rispetto alla N270, la N280 ha un clock minimamente superiore ed offre un maggiore FSB.
