Alluminiooooo! Asus introduce il nuovo design della famiglia Eee con questo Eee PC 1018P. Il case in alluminio e le porte USB 3.0 opzionali cercheranno di convincere anche i più scettici tra i potenziali acquirenti. 399 euro è un prezzo assurdo e ci chiediamo come mai sia stato utilizzato uno schermo lucido.

Though this machine is certainly usable, competitors offer a better experience for less money. For $355, you can buy a Toshiba NB305, which has a best-in-class keyboard, a large and accurate touchpad, and longer battery life. If you really want to save, get the ASUS Eee PC 1001P for $299. It's not as stylish as the 1018P, but it lasts longer on a charge (8:40) and has a better keyboard.

EN→IT Archive.org versionIndeed, ASUS has done a really nice job in designing the most attractive netbooks on shelves today, and the best part is that you don't have to pay more than $350 (at least at Best Buy) for those premium designs, as the company has been known to do in the past. In the end, both the 1018P and 1015PE are very solid choices, though if you're looking for a netbook that lasts longer on a charge we have to recommend the Toshiba Mini NB305 or the Eee PC 1005PE.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 3150: Scheda grafica integrata (memoria condivisa) nell'Intel Atom N4xx CPUs. Minimamente più veloce rispetto ad una vecchia GMA 950 e pertanto non adatta ai giochi 3D o ai video HD (solo accelerazione MPEG2).
Queste schede grafiche per portatili non sono adatte al gaming. Anche se dovessero funzionare, ci sarebbero diversi errori grafici e un frame rate molto basso. Questi chips non sono affatto per i gamers! Applicazioni internet e da ufficio, invece non sono problematiche per queste GPUs.

Intel Atom:
La Intel Atom è una serie a 64-Bit di microprocessori (non tutti i modelli supportano 64bit) per portatili economici e piccoli (chiamati comunemente netbooks), MIDs, o UMPCs (Ultra Mibile Persona Computer). La particolarità della nuova architettura è l'esecuzione "in order" (al posto della consueta e più veloce esecuzione "out of order"). Di conseguenza il transistor count della serie Atom è abbastanza inferiore, e quindi più economico da produrre. Inoltre, il consumo di energia è molto contenuto. Le prestazioni per Megahertz sono ovviamente peggiori rispetto ai vecchi Pentium 3M (1,2 GHz alla pari di 1.6 GHz Atom).
