A tablet wouldn’t run Windows, but gave you a small and light device to carry around for email, web browsing, music and so on. A laptop was bigger and heavier, but did the same kinds of things as a desktop PC. Then Microsoft invented the Surface, and it was neither one thing nor the other. Or, as Microsoft would prefer you to believe, it was both.

It seems that the mediocre hardware is justified by the low price and the low-power concept of the device. The Switch 3 sees some direct competition in the face of ASUS Transformer Book T101. Also for almost double the price, you can go for the Dell XPS 12 9250.

Intel HD Graphics 505:
Adattatore grafico integrato low-end con supporto DirectX 12, che possiamo trovare su alcuni SoCs ULV della serie Apollo Lake.
La maggior parte dei giochi attuali può essere giocata in modo fluido. Ma preparatevi ad una riduzione delle presentazioni grafiche considerando le impostazioni di dettaglio basse e la risoluzione limitata. Tuttavia, queste schede forniscono ancora abbastanza potenza per le applicazioni da ufficio e la proiezioni di video (ma non per i video HD).

Pentium N4200:
Frugale SoC quad-core della serie Apollo Lake per notebook economici. Gira con clocks tra 1.1-2.5 GHz ed integra un adattatore grafico che usa DirectX 12. Rispetto alla precedente generazione Atom, le performance per-MHz dell'architettura CPU sono state nettamente migliorate e anche l'adattatore grafico è stato migliorato.
