Despite the single core CPU, I'd say, at Rs 26,999, it's a better pick than a N450 netbook, but again, the truth is, that you'd be paying that extra buck for the metallic shell, aesthetics and style, than the performance and functionality. The bottom line is, people who want a stylish business netbook should definitely consider this one, especially if price is not a factor that's luring you into buying a netbook. If price -performance ratio is your priority, then a dual-core netbook is obviously a better choice. We've rated this one 4 on 5 largely because of its looks, it's quite a stunner.

All in all, the Asus 1018P is a netbook meant to continue the line of fancy/stylish mini laptops opened by the Asus 1008HA and continued with the 1008P-KR. This time it’s even slimmer, more compact, better built and overall better looking. It’s actually hard to see how solid this device is without getting your hands on it, especially when compared with other 10 inchers, but the pictures and clips in this post should help you get an idea. Like I’ve said, this device is not faster or more powerful than standard netbooks, performance is not its strong point. It’s not less powerful either, it can just run basic tasks and software you’ll need on a daily basics.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 3150: Scheda grafica integrata (memoria condivisa) nell'Intel Atom N4xx CPUs. Minimamente più veloce rispetto ad una vecchia GMA 950 e pertanto non adatta ai giochi 3D o ai video HD (solo accelerazione MPEG2).

Queste schede grafiche per portatili non sono adatte al gaming. Anche se dovessero funzionare, ci sarebbero diversi errori grafici e un frame rate molto basso. Questi chips non sono affatto per i gamers! Applicazioni internet e da ufficio, invece non sono problematiche per queste GPUs.

Intel Atom:

La Intel Atom è una serie a 64-Bit di microprocessori (non tutti i modelli supportano 64bit) per portatili economici e piccoli (chiamati comunemente netbooks), MIDs, o UMPCs (Ultra Mibile Persona Computer). La particolarità della nuova architettura è l'esecuzione "in order" (al posto della consueta e più veloce esecuzione "out of order"). Di conseguenza il transistor count della serie Atom è abbastanza inferiore, e quindi più economico da produrre. Inoltre, il consumo di energia è molto contenuto. Le prestazioni per Megahertz sono ovviamente peggiori rispetto ai vecchi Pentium 3M (1,2 GHz alla pari di 1.6 GHz Atom).

N450: CPU Intel Atom per Netbooks con controller di memoria integrato e GPU GMA 3150. LE prestazioni del sistema dovrebbero essere solo minimamente superiori rispetto alla precedente combinazione Atom N280 / GMA 950.
