Dell ha fatto un ottimo lavoro a livello hardware e l’introduzione del nuovo display OLED 4K rende l’XPS 15 una delle migliori scelte per coloro che creano e consumano contenuti multimediali. Bisogna però lavorare ancora su molti aspetti, come il comparto audio e un design che rimane invariato da ormai troppi anni e i driver della scheda wifi.

Dell’s G7 15 is a good notebook on paper, but less than ideal thermals make it a little uncomfortable to play with during long periods. You also have to consider the price: at Php 113990 it’s priced higher than many of its competitors that offer better value in terms of hardware specifications. ASUS’ own ROG Strix G G531GV for example, has the same processor, hardware and display with chassis RGB LED lighting and more SSD storage for cheaper, at Php 99,995. Likewise, Acer’s Predator Helios 300 has the same hardware specs (free memory upgrade till the 14th) for lower, at Php 99,999.

The Dell G7 is a powerful machine. It has a clean design, with an excellent keyboard and display. The CPU and RAM config allows you to multitask with ease, and the GPU will enable you to experience NVIDIA’s ray-tracing technology. You could play most games at ultra settings, and you can take advantage of the display’s 144hz refresh rate (for esports titles). However, it does get hot – and I mean really hot. You’d have to get an external keyboard if you want to do some heavy gaming on this laptop, which defeats the purpose of getting a portable solution. Compared to other laptops that limit CPU frequency to keep cool, the Dell G7 pushes its hardware to the limits.

The only question I can’t figure out: Why’s it so expensive? The Dell G7 15 is a perfectly fine machine, but the list price of $1,730 feels steep. Even Dell’s current discount to $1,500 compares poorly to some of the GTX 1070-equipped stock still floating around the market. The Lenovo Legion Y740 we reviewed last month was discounted to $1,540 at the time of our review and boasted an RTX 2070 Max-Q for that money.

The Dell G7 15 made an impressive leap from its predecessor with its incredibly powerful performance and a gorgeous 144Hz display packed in a much slimmer package. However, its SSD is disappointingly slow, and it doesn't help that the laptop has short battery life. In the shape it's in now, the G7 15 is a great purchase at a lower price point, but its features aren't as desirable as they should be for $1,778.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Mobile:

Queste schede grafiche dovrebbero essere in grado di far funzionare tutti i giochi attuali con un framerates fluido ma rinunciando al livello di dettaglio massimo. Specialmente i giochi impegnativi come Crysis, Age of Conan, o Mass Effect sono utilizzabili soltanto con impostazioni grafiche ridotte. I giochi meno pesanti (e più datati), come Fifa 08, Command & Conquer 3, o Battlefield 2142 possono essere giocati con livello di dettagli più alto.
