You can get better performance with the Samsung N210 or MSI Wind U160 for the same price, while the Gateway LT2118U and ASUS Eee PC 1001P (both of which last over 2 hours longer on a charge) run for $30 to $80 less. Still, semi-ruggedness at this price is a good deal.

The company has come out with the Samsung NB30 ($340 street), which it's peddling as a ruggedized netbook. Though it's not meant to sustain 3 foot drops and underwater dives, the NB30 has a hard drive sensor, a scratch-proof lid, and a spill-resistant frame (up to 2 ounces of liquid). Everything else in between—from components to performance—is like that of every other netbook.

Samsung: Il Gruppo Samsung si compone di vari settori di business a livello internazionale, tutti sviluppati sotto il marchio Samsung in Corea del Sud. In Coreano la parola Samsung significa "tre stelle". Il marchio Samsung è uno dei più importanti brands in Corea del Sud. Samsung è un produttore internazionale di notebook di medie dimensioni stando ai dati di mercato ed alle recensioni.
Soltanto i giochi datasi possono essere giocati in modo fluido con questi chips grafici (se non richiedono troppe prestazioni). I cores con memoria grafica condivisa in questa categoria hanno il vantaggio delle minori emissioni di calore e della maggiore autonomia della batteria. Per ufficio, internet, image processing, e video editing queste schede grafiche sono utilizzabili senza particolari problematiche.
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950: Il nuovo core di grafica Intel® GMA 950 è un motore grafico intelligente e dai tempi di risposta rapidi integrato nel chipset presente sulla scheda madre. Non propriamente adatta per giocare.
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 3150: Scheda grafica integrata (memoria condivisa) nell'Intel Atom N4xx CPUs. Minimamente più veloce rispetto ad una vecchia GMA 950 e pertanto non adatta ai giochi 3D o ai video HD (solo accelerazione MPEG2).

Intel Atom:
La Intel Atom è una serie a 64-Bit di microprocessori (non tutti i modelli supportano 64bit) per portatili economici e piccoli (chiamati comunemente netbooks), MIDs, o UMPCs (Ultra Mibile Persona Computer). La particolarità della nuova architettura è l'esecuzione "in order" (al posto della consueta e più veloce esecuzione "out of order"). Di conseguenza il transistor count della serie Atom è abbastanza inferiore, e quindi più economico da produrre. Inoltre, il consumo di energia è molto contenuto. Le prestazioni per Megahertz sono ovviamente peggiori rispetto ai vecchi Pentium 3M (1,2 GHz alla pari di 1.6 GHz Atom).
N450: CPU Intel Atom per Netbooks con controller di memoria integrato e GPU GMA 3150. LE prestazioni del sistema dovrebbero essere solo minimamente superiori rispetto alla precedente combinazione Atom N280 / GMA 950.
10.1: Il netbook/subnotebook ha un formato di display abbastanza piccolo. Tuttavia di tratta di un formato comune per i netbooks. Lo svantaggio è che la lettura di testi è estenuante per gli occhi. Risoluzioni elevate difficilmente potranno essere utilizzate.

Questo subnotebook è uno dei più leggeri di tutti i portatili e può essere trasportato con estrema semplicità. Difficilmente si trovano altri modelli in questa fascia di peso.
7-9 pollici sono la norma per questa categoria di peso.
