L'MSI GS70 offre un potente processore ed una GPU high-performance. Insieme, questi componenti hardware trasformano il computer in un portatile gaming che riesce a gestire tutti i titoli attuali. La potente tecnologia è chiusa in un sottile case. Non sorprende pertanto, che, il portatile non è uno dei modelli più silenziosi - e l'hardware deve essere raffreddato adeguatamente. Un solid state drive garantisce una buona velocità di ssitema. Questo drive può essere sostituito con un modello nettamente più veloce, in quanto lo slot M.2 è connesso tramite PCI Express x4. Al fine di darci il massimo dello spazio di archiviazione, MSI ha installato anche un HDD da 2.5".

Il display del portatile è un pannello TN che riproduce i contenuti adeguatamente anche ad angolazioni ampie. Se ci riferiamo a modelli TN, questo è uno dei migliori modelli; in genere non troviamo angoli di visuale così ampi in questo tipo di display. Il valore di contrasto del pannello è accettabile, ma la luminosità massima è molto bassa. Questo problema dipende dal profilo colore preinstallato.

Infine, abbiamo dato uno sguardo al processore Skylake. Rispetto al precedessore Haswell, offre solo un minimo incremento di prestazioni CPU (meno del 5%). Maggiore interesse desta lo Skylake GS70 per i consumi bassi sotto carico. Ne consegue che, la ventola non deve girare molto velocemente. Sorprendentemente, il consumo energetico in modalità idle non è più basso. In effetti la minore autonomia del GS70 mostra che il computer ha assorbito più energia rispetto al gemello Haswell nei nostri tests di autonomia. Le differenze si spiegano con la minore capacità della battereia dello Skylake GS70 (56 Wh vs. 60 Wh).

Nel complesso, il processore Skylake del nuovo GS70 ha alcuni vantaggi, ma ci sono alcune pecche. Ma nel regno dei portatili gaming, i miglioramenti ergonomici hanno più peso rispetto all'autonomia della batteria. A causa dei bassi consumi e della rumorosità contenuta, questo nuovo computer lascerà alcuni clienti con i nervi calmi...e il portafogli più leggero.
