Dimenticate il cheap. Un portatile high-end basato su hardware AMD - non l'abbiamo visto da molto tempo. HP prova questo esperimento, ed installa la più veloce APU Carrizo oltre ad un SSD ed un pannello WQHD IPS nel suo EliteBook 745 G3. Ma come si comporta questa macchina da 1300 Euro (~$1404) rispetto alla concorrenza Intel?

Solo una sottile linea separa la luce dall'ombra nell'HP EliteBook 745 G3. Ad esempio, il punto di forza del portatile è il case high-quality, gli eccellenti dispositivi di input e lo schermo eccellente (che non ha molte pecche a parte la riproduzione del colore ). Possiamo considerare le solide performance: grazie all'SSD, il portatile si dimostra molto reattivo ed ha tempi do booting e caricamento brevi. L'APU Carrizo offre abbastanza per i programmi quotidiani, e - se si installa un secondo modulo di memoria - riesce a gestire anche i pesanti software di grafica e (vecchi) giochi 3D. Tuttavia, dobbiamo criticare che l'A12-8800B non raggiunge il livello delle attuali CPU Core i3.

Dobbiamo rimproverare HP per la decisione di eliminare una comoda cover di manutenzione e dimezzare le porte USB. L'ulteriore porta USB Type C è positiva, ma non compensa i tagli. L'autonomia breve e la deludente webcam depongono male e non rispecchiano il prezzo di un portatile professionale da oltre 1000 Euro (~$1080).

Il detto: "You get what you pay for" è ancora una volta vero. Il prezzo inferiore rispetto all'EliteBook 800 basato su dotazioni simili, e ci dispositivi di altri produttori, è giustificato. Questo, tuttavia, non rende il 743 G3 un cattivo portatile.
