Dell punta sull'equazione "più sottile, più leggero, e con consumi contenuti" per la sua nuova linea Inspiron 5000. Ma basta? Il desgin del case è elegante, e la cover in alluminio aggiunge un tocco di premium; anche la qualità dà un'impressione migliore rispetto all'Inspiron 15-5547. Rispetto al fratello minore, lo schermo è nettamente migliore sebbene la superficie riflettente del touchscreen è fastidiosa all'aperto.

Tuttavia, la connettività è scarsa: poche porte USB, nessuno high-speed Wi-Fi standard 802.11 ac, nessuna Gigabit Ethernet. Manca una scheda grafica dedicata, come nella concorrenza. Bisogna dire che le prestazioni dei concorrenti non sono elevate, ma una scheda grafica è fondamentale per un minimo di funzionalità gaming. Inoltre l'hard drive rallenta il sistema ma può essere sostituito con un SSD molto facilmente.

La rumorosità e le temperature sono buone, e le casse non sono del tutto male. Abbiamo rilevato un ottimo consumo ed autonomia, in particolare nei tests pratici.

I patiti di giochi e chi cerca prodotti premium dovranno puntare sul Dell Inspiron 17-7377. Che ha un case in metallo, una migliore autonomia, e soprattutto una scheda grafica dedicata di fascia media che consente di giocare. Ma bisogna sganciare 400 Euro (~$537) in più. Gli utenti che cercano un sottile e leggero 17" dovrebbero fare a meno di un touchscreen; ma un 17" non può mai essere veramente portatile.

Se la potenza grafica non vi interessa, potete puntare sul Dell Inspiron 17-5748 con dispositivi di input decenti e punteggio complessivo buono.

Dell classidica il Inspiron 17-7548 come portatile multimedia mid-range.

Tuttavia non ha una scheda grafica dedicata.

L'Intel Core i7-4510U è potente ed efficiente.

L'altezza del portatile è aumentata a causa del touchscreen.

Ma il Dell Inspiron 17-5748 è più sottile di molti concorrenti con touchscreen.

La varietà di interfacce non soddisfa del tutto.

Qualche porta USB in più non avrebbe guastatoports would have been nice.

Solo due viti per accedere ai componenti interni.

Sfortunatamente, solo uno slot per hard-drive; alcuni portatili da 17

Solo un modo di memoria può essere raggiunto.

Waves MaxxAudio supporta l'audio delle casse.

Il ClickPad non è preciso comq quello con i pulsanti; ma nel complesso funziona bene.

La tastiera è atraente, ma bisogna abituarsi alla battuta soffice.

La piccola batteria da 40-watt garantisce una buona autonomia grazie all'efficienza energetica del processore.
