Entry-level Gaming. La revisione dell'MSI GE72 del 2017 è interessante per molti motivi. Prima di tutto, il processore della nuova architettura Intel entra in questo segmento di portatili con il Core i7-7700HQ. Inoltre, il nuovo chip gaming Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti è stato utilizzato, e si colloca tra nella fascia medio alta. Abbiamo testato le capacità gaming di questo modello da 17".

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . Sebbene il GE72 7RE non abbia la certificaione per la realtà virtuale, potete sempre considerarlo un portatile gaming. La nuova Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti offre prestazioni sufficienti per avere frame rates decenti con una risoluzione da 1,920 x 1,080 pixels e dettagli elevati.

Le performance scendono rapidamente nella fascia 3K e 4K rendendo i giochi inutilizzabili. Tuttavia, i gamers in genere pensano a spendere qualcosa in più per una GTX 1060. A lungo termine i 6 GB di VRAM sono più future-proof rispetto ai 4 GB e questi dispositivi difficilmente costano di più.

A nostro parere l'architettura Intel Kaby Lake non è molto spettacolare e migliora solo di poco le prestazioni CPU.

    Se siete indecisi tra un economico portatile multimedia ed un vero portatile high-end sarete felici del GE72 7RE.
