Ben bilanciato. Con un prezzo di quasi 1300 Euro (~$1390), l'Omen 17 w100ng è attualmente il dispositivo più economico della linea. Questo modello ha prestazioni leggermente inferiore ma gestisce i giochi in modo fluido sul suo pannello matto Full HD. L'Omen offre una autonomia molto buona per essere un portatile gaming.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Il modello entry-level della linea Omen non ha una CPU Core i7 ma offre "solo" un processore  Core i5-6300HQ. Di conseguenza, bisogna spendere "solo" 1300 Euro (~$1390). Tuttavia, il processore usato ha potenza più che sufficiente per tutti gli scenari applicativi. La 6300HQ e la scheda grafica GeForce GTX 1060 gestiscono quasi tutti i giochi attuali con risoluzione Full HD e con dettagli medi o elevati. La tecnologia Nvidia G-Sync consente una riproduzione fluida dell'immagine sullo schermo da 75-Hz.

Il sistema ha una buona fluidità anche grazie all'SSD SATA III. Tuttavia, si può fare di più. L'SSD può essere sostituito con un modello più veloce PCIe/NVMe. E' possibile anche sostituire l'hard drive da 1 TB. Il pannello matto IPS piace per l'elevata luminosità, l'elevato contrasto e gli angoli di visuale stabili.

Con l'Omen 17 w100ng, HP lancia un sistema di entry-level ben bilanciato nel mondo gaming.

L'Omen non è perfetto: HP dovrebbe ad esempio lavorare sulla rumorosità. Il portatile è troppo rumoroso. Il sistema di raffreddamento sembra essere progettato per la combinazione Core i7-6700 e GeForce GTX 1070. Un update dal BIOS potrebbe migliorare la situazione. Il portatile non ha porte Thunderbolt 3 o USB 3.1 Gen2. Ci aspettiamo queste porte da un portatile 2016/2017 con questo prezzo.
