Recensione breve del Portatile Gigabyte P55W v6

Focalizzato sull'essenziale. La nova versione Gigabyte del P55W non è cambiata di molto. Mentre il predecessore usava una GeForce GTX 970M, il nuovo modello monta una GTX 1060 - e si tratta di una bella differenza.

I tempi di risposta del display mostrano quanto sia veloce lo schermo a cambaire da un colore all'altro. Tempi di risposta lenti poccono creare sovrapposizioni negloi oggetti in movimento. Specialmente i giocatori patiti del 3D dovrebbero usare uno schermo con rempi di risposta bassi.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Le varie edizioni del Gigabyte P55W hanno sempre cercato il punto di incontro tra prestazioni e prezzo - e la versione 6 per fortuna non differisce. Il passaggio dalla GeForce GTX 970 alla GTX 1060 comporta un incremento del 50 % delle prestazioni 3D, mentre i prezzo non è cambiato per nulla (1600 Euro / ~$1710). "minimo sforzo massimo risultato".

L'aspetto esterno non è cambiato - lo chassis e la decente selezione di porte fisiche, gli ottimi dispositivi di input e le casse così così sono gli stessi. Ancora una volta, Gigabyte utilizza una CPU Skylake con 16 GB di RAM, quindi il sistema ha potenza adeguata per le applicazioni pesanti senza rallentare molto. L'autonomia della batteria nemmeno ne ha risentito. 

Rispetto al predecessore, i nuovi portatili sembrano fare un passo indietro in alcune aree. Il display ha un valore di contrasto molto più basso e la distribuzione della luminosità è peggiorata. Questo è importante innanzitutto perché i pannelli - almeno in base a nome e numero di modello - sono identici. Il velocissimo SSD Samsung del P55W v5 ha fatto spazio a un più lento drive Transcend. La rumorosità pure è peggiorata - in particolare danno fastidio le fluttuazioni con carico massimo.

Considerando il tutto, il P55W v6 è una decente e valida evoluzione della serie gaming - e per 1600 Euro (~$1710), avrete molte prestazioni 3D. L'Asus ROG Strix GL502VM con dotazioni identiche è l'unico sistema con lo stesso rapporto prezzo-prestazioni. Coloro che non vogliono tali prestazioni gaming possono risparmiare molto e prendere un Acer Aspire VX5-591G per circa 1000 Euro (~$1070). I gamers che vogliono invece ancora più prestazioni rispetto al P55W v6 devono spendere molto di più: ad esempio l'Acer Predator 15 G9-593, costa circa 2.500 Euro (~$2670).
