MSI ha preparato bene il GT72. Abbiamo apprezzato le porte USB 3.1 in quanto predispongono questo modello al futuro. Il pannello IPS è un passo avanti per la qualità dell'immagine. Il restao degli aggiornamenti non sono degni di nota: in confronto alla generazione Haswell, i processori Broadwell sono solo leggermente più veloci.

Il GT72 è abbastanza simile al predecessore per altri aspetti. Le opzioni per la manutenzione sono abbastanza buone, se non vi curate della batteria inaccessibile e della CPU saldata. I dispositivi di input e le emissioni sono abbastanza buone. Le casse hanno un buon suono, il che è raro nei portatili. Le ottime prestazioni sono un altro plus, sebbene avremmo apprezzato una SSD PCI-Express. Lo switch manuale della scheda grafica e il case pesante (3.7 kg) è una questione di gusti.

A causa di varie ma piccole pecche del display, l'MSI GT72 non riceve un punteggio superiore come l'Asus G751JY (89%). Troviamo scadente questo display dozzinale, e la cover scricciola senza contare il drive ottico che sporge dal case. Queste pecche non sono accettabili in un portatile da ben 2.000 Euro (~$2211). Una migliore ricezione WLAN ed 8 GB di VRAM sarebbero stati adatti. Inoltre, il contenuto del display a volte "brucia" sullo schermo (similmente al predecessore) il che potrebbe essere dissuasivo per i gamers. Nel complesso questo portatile da 17" merita comunque uno sguardo.
