Come avrete capito questo Honor 8 mi è piaciuto, tanto. Amo iOS e questo è il primo terminale che mi ha fatto veramente vacillare dopo mesi di univoca direzione. Mi piace tanto e costa poco, 399 euro di listino ma su Amazon ormai si trova anche a meno in maniera molto facile. Ha tutto per essere considerato tra i migliori smartphone ancora in commercio ma allo stesso tempo da anche uno schiaffo ai più blasonati e cari concorrenti, tra cui lo stesso P9.

Districarsi nella giungla dei dispositivi Android diventa sempre più arduo. Honor 8 infatti si va ad insediare in una fascia di mercato più bassa rispetto ai contenuti tecnici che offre: costa 399 euro ma con qualche licenza può essere paragonato benissimo ad un Galaxy S7, un LG G5 o ad un HTC 10. Si scontra ancora più da vicino con OnePlus 3, che comunque presenta display e dimensioni leggermente più ampi. Tutto questo senza considerare i dispositivi della passata generazione: è sufficiente farsi un giro online per verificare a che prezzo si trova oggi un Galaxy S6, dispositivo che, nonostante le mancanze nella scheda tecnica, si rivela ancora oggi una scelta ottimale anche per il "power-user".

Il design curato e ricercato in accoppiata con la particolare colorazione Sapphine Blue conferiscono allo smartphone un fascino irresistibile. Huawei da azienda delle telecomunicazioni, quale era e rimane, è riuscita in poco tempo a diventare un elemento di riferimento per la fascia media dei dispositivi mobili. Ora che finalmente è un brand affermato ecco che spinge in alto il prezzo dei propri dispositivi (la serie Nova presentata ad IFA ne è un esempio) lasciando la fascia media ad Honor. Quest’ultima ha dalla sua dei prezzi concorrenziali che non mutano nell’arco di un anno, telefoni di ottima fattura e accattivanti esteticamente. Honor 8 ne è un esempio concreto. Il telefono è bello, piacevole da utilizzare e qualitativamente soddisfacente. Certo, ci saremmo aspettati di più da una doppia fotocamera, ma a 399€ fate fatica a trovare di meglio: di certo se la gioca con One Plus 3.

Honor 8 è un ottimo dispositivo, che si comporta in maniera eccellente in tutto e che si ispira parecchio al “cugino” Huawei P9. Il display è molto buono, la fotocamera delude un pò, non tanto per la qualità delle foto ma per il fatto che non funziona come sul Huawei P9 dove la doppia fotocamera è indipendente l’una dall’altra, ma ovviamente questa è una scelta di progettazione su cui non si può discutere più di tanto e che non considero quindi come un “contro”. Il design colpisce per la cura e l’eleganza, il vetro fa la sua bellissima figura indubbiamente e tutti i componenti sono stati assemblati in maniera molto curata. Sicuramente l’Honor 8 è un dispositivo che avrà un gran successo, considerando anche il prezzo che costa, decisamente in linea con l’ottima qualità che offre.

Honor 8 è uno smartphone che ci ha convinto pienamente, soprattuto in relazione al prezzo al quale viene lanciato. In versione europeo può essere acquistato dal sito VMall, store ufficiale di Huawei, al prezzo di 399 euro nella versione da 4GB di RAM e 32GB di memoria interna e presto arriverà anche negli store fisici. Tra i punti a favore di Honor 8 possiamo inserire di sicuro la fluidità, il design stupendo e l’autonomia della batteria. Tra i contro la scelta di inserire la doppia fotocamera e in parte rovinare un sensore che scatta ottime foto a causa della mancanza dello stabilizzatore ottico. Il prezzo è tutto sommato contenuto, si scontra con altri smartphone che possono vantare anche essi un ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo, primi su tutti OnePlus 3 e Xiaomi Mi5, ma questo dispositivo sembra non temere nessuno, vi daremo maggiori informazioni con confronti dedicati.

Honor sta facendo un po' come Huawei e, anno dopo anno, da una spintarella in su al prezzo. Ma qui 399€ ci stanno tutti. Mi è piaciuto un sacco, più di P9. Bellissimo, gira molto bene e non ha praticamente nessun punto debole. Ok la fotocamera non è al top, ma si difende bene. Unico problema forse, visto il target che si sono prefissati in Honor, i millenia, è che, per loro, potrebbe essere fuori budget o poco cool. Quindi Honor, ora che ha un prodottone, non resta che lavorare sul brand!

The Honor 8 is a great device that performs above the asking price. With an improved camera and much better design, it looks like a premium handset you’d be proud to show off… even if can’t stay still on a flat surface. Our only real peeve lies with the Emotion UI, which still feels like a cheap Apple imitation at best. The OnePlus 3 is really the only handset that trumps the Honor 8 in this price range when it comes to value-for-money, which is surely testament to what you’re getting. If you fancy a decent mid-range device that ticks all the boxes, you can’t really go wrong with this.

So that's that then - Huawei may be trying to run Honor as a separate brand in some regions, but the Chinese company's design philosophy is clearly visible in the 8. A flashier P9 without the Leica branding we can certainly live with. Knowing you save €150 over the original model makes it a very attractive offer. And there weren't any major corners cut either - outside of the missing film modes and the more limited use of the monochrome sensor the Honor 8 didn't really feel inferior in any way. The glass design might be a bit too flashy for some, but others will certainly prefer it over the metal of the P9.
