Hannspree is gaining a decent reputation for producing cheaper alternatives to more established brands in the notebook and display market without a significant compromise in quality, and for the budget-conscious buyer it's difficult not to hold them in some regard. Hannspree's new Hannsbook is an attractive budget offering in a burgeoning netbook market and, while it doesn't really bring anything new to the table, a solid, attractive design and competent performance will certainly appeal to those looking to buy a portable on a shoestring.

If the name Hannspree rings a bell, chances are you've seen it adorning either an LCD TV or a monitor, but with the HANNSnote SN10E1 the company has taken quite a plunge and entered the highly competitive - make that cut-throat - netbook market. Unfortunately for Hannspree it has launched the HANNSnote SN10E1 at the same time as the market leaders are launching the second generation of 10-inch netbooks, so it was always going to be tough to stand out from the crowd, and sadly the HANNSnote SN10E1 doesn't. Having said that, the price is good, until you realise that by stretching your budget by fifty pounds or so you can get something like Asus's EeePC 1000HE with its much longer battery life and better keyboard.

The Hannspree HannsNote SN10E1 is a me-too netbook with Intel Atom processor, 10in screen and Intel GMA 950 graphics. Oh, and a great price. There’s little on the HannsNote to recommend it over the classic MSI Wind U100 – until you check the price. While the Wind typicall sells for between £300 and £330, we’ve seen the Hannspree HannsNote SN10E1 available for £260. Considering the good core design and specification of the Wind/HannsSpree chassis, it gets our vote as the best value netbook.

Until netbooks based on nVidia's ION or AMD's platform (like Packard Bell's Dot m) arrive in retail, these miniature underpowered laptops are a bit like generic cookies: they might be cut into different shapes and have various toppings, but they're all made from the same dough. Superfluous analogies aside, today we're taking a look at Hannspree's HANNSnote, which - like the Advent 4211 and LG X110 before it - is essentially a restyled MSI Wind, including the same old specifications. Join us as we find out if this is the best Wind rebadge yet. If you can get past its faults, Hannspree's HANNSnote is excellent value for a netbook with a six-cell battery. However, depending on your needs it's definitely worth checking out the competition before buying.

Hannspree is a name better known in the world of monitors than notebook computers. In the past it has come up with some rather strange designs for its screens, too, including ones in the shape of elephants and footballs (designed for children’s bedrooms, naturally) and a memorable model that came with wood veneer panelling. The Hannspree Hannsnote SN10e1 doesn’t stand out much but offers decent value.

The US TV giant sticks its finger into the netbook pie. While the Hannspree Hannsnote is an effective and highly usable netbook, it fails to stand out from the vast competition in any clear way. On its own merits it is an impressive portable, but the noisy fan and mildly flawed usability may cause you to look elsewhere.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950: Il nuovo core di grafica Intel® GMA 950 è un motore grafico intelligente e dai tempi di risposta rapidi integrato nel chipset presente sulla scheda madre. Non propriamente adatta per giocare.

Soltanto i giochi datasi possono essere giocati in modo fluido con questi chips grafici (se non richiedono troppe prestazioni). I cores con memoria grafica condivisa in questa categoria hanno il vantaggio delle minori emissioni di calore e della maggiore autonomia della batteria. Per ufficio, internet, image processing, e video editing queste schede grafiche sono utilizzabili senza particolari problematiche.

Intel Atom:

La Intel Atom è una serie a 64-Bit di microprocessori (non tutti i modelli supportano 64bit) per portatili economici e piccoli (chiamati comunemente netbooks), MIDs, o UMPCs (Ultra Mibile Persona Computer). La particolarità della nuova architettura è l'esecuzione "in order" (al posto della consueta e più veloce esecuzione "out of order"). Di conseguenza il transistor count della serie Atom è abbastanza inferiore, e quindi più economico da produrre. Inoltre, il consumo di energia è molto contenuto. Le prestazioni per Megahertz sono ovviamente peggiori rispetto ai vecchi Pentium 3M (1,2 GHz alla pari di 1.6 GHz Atom).

N270: CPU single core economico e lento, a basso consumo, per Netbook. A causa dell'esecuzione in-order, le prestazioni per MHz sono peggiori rispetto ad un processore Core Solo o ad un Celeron M.

10.0": Il netbook/subnotebook ha un formato di display abbastanza piccolo. Tuttavia di tratta di un formato comune per i netbooks. Lo svantaggio è che la lettura di testi è estenuante per gli occhi. Risoluzioni elevate difficilmente potranno essere utilizzate.

1.4 kg: Questo subnotebook è uno dei più leggeri di tutti i portatili e può essere trasportato con estrema semplicità. Difficilmente si trovano altri modelli in questa fascia di peso.
 10 pollici sono la norma per questa categoria di peso.
