HP dropped serious hardware into this box, with a 2.4-GHz Intel Core i5 processor and smoking ATI Radeon 5650 graphics card, backed up by enough RAM and hard drive space to rip a pile of movies on the quick. And all that power is ensconced in decadent luxury. The spacious island-style keyboard offers full-size arrow keys typically unheard of on laptops. The slot-loading DVD drive is smooth and responsive, battery life is great, and three USB ports keep your gear connected. Even better is the gloriously high-resolution LED-backlit display that loads up on enough pixels (1600 x 900) in its 14.5 inches to give games, movies, and photos an immersive level of realism. The $1,149 Beats Edition also shows improvement, not just in performance, but in value. For more than $300 less than the 15-inch MacBook Pro, you're getting a machine with a comparable display, better graphics, superior audio, and (some might argue) a better look. If you're willing to put up with relatively short battery life, this special edition is definitely worth the investment.

The 14.5" HD+ HP Radiance LED display is overpriced in my opinion but the switchable ATI 5650, Beats Audio and backlit island-style keyboard are all quality features. Subtract the $300 Radiance display and the Envy 14 is a much better value in my book.

The ENVY 14 could be seen as HP’s attempt to push through into a premium segment that would allow them a little more breathing room, though they’ve not short-changed the buyer in the process. Apple’s extra budget goes on the nicer elements of garnish – the HP’s power adapter lacks the finesse and magnetic connector of the MacBook Pro’s, and the ENVY 14?s ports protrude from the angled edges of the chassis rather than feeling punched through a unibody – but we imagine many buyers would prefer to have the cash in the bank. It’s a balancing act, and HP has done well with it; Blu-ray is the glaring omission, but generally the HP ENVY 14 offers a strong mixture of performance, style and quality.

The clickpad and battery life, however, left me wanting more from the overall laptop experience, while battery life took a beating from the hard-hitting components. If you're looking for raw, unbridled horsepower, this is it. For a more balanced mainstream laptop, go with the Asus U41JF-A1—the Editors' Choice in the mainstream category.

Though reasonably portable, it’s a far cry from the Asus U36JC. Using the keyboard and touchpad is pleasurable, but Apple’s MacBooks have a clear edge.

The battery life could be better--and the design is still a bit hefty for a 14-incher--but overall the Envy 14 is a great premium notebook with an affordable price.

EN→ITPerformance with the HP Envy 14 is quite admirable, but not the best out there. Multitasking and watching HD video was no problem for this laptop, however, and gave us good results. Gaming was rated good, but only with the discrete graphics enabled. Battery life is very good at about 5-5.5 hours of life, but this is while using the integrated graphics. Expect to get about 1.5-2 hours less if you use the ATI HD graphics instead.

EN→ITHP's 2011 Envy 14 picks up right where last year's model left off by beefing up the internals, adding modern connectivity options like USB 3.0 and DisplayPort and greatly improving the touchpad. The optical drive is a convenience feature should you find yourself still using DVDs on a regular basis. We're pleased with the Envy 14, and it's a good value for a solidly constructed laptop at $900, however it remains to be seen if it can handle the stiff competition from thinner and lighter ultrabooks that are expected to arrive early 2012. We wouldn't discard an impending update to the Envy 14 itself as part of that thin and lighter movement as well.

EN→ITHP's Envy 14-2160SE is a surprisingly strong performance laptop even though it doesn't have a quad core processor. Much of this is achieved through the use of a solid state drive and performance hard drive pairing. The build quality of the Envy lineup still is one of the best around even though it design is disrupted with the big red Beats logo on the lid.

EN→ITOn first impressions, the HP Envy 14 Spectre certainly looks like it'll be a strong contender in the battle of the ultrabooks. Its slick exterior, excellent video quality and the inclusion of Beats Audio impressed us, while the long battery life and NFC capability are also strong selling points that we hope to try out in more detail as soon as we get our mitts on a review sample. The price tag may be a stumbling block for some, but the larger-than-average 14-inch screen gives it a definite advantage over some of its ultrabook stable mates. Stay tuned for a full review.

La principale gamma di prodotti include dispositivi per il personal computing, servers enterprise, e relativi dispositivi di archiviazione, così come diverse categorie di stampanti ed altri prodotti per l'immagine. Altri settori di produzione, includono apparecchi e sistemi per test elettronici, apparecchiature mediche, componenti allo stato solido e strumentazione per analisi chimiche. HP ha dichiarato nel 2006 ricavi per 91.7 miliardi di dollari, con questo risultato si è affermata come la principale azienda tecnologica in termini di vendite. Queste schede grafiche dovrebbero essere in grado di far funzionare tutti i giochi attuali con un framerates fluido ma rinunciando al livello di dettaglio massimo. Specialmente i giochi impegnativi come Crysis, Age of Conan, o Mass Effect sono utilizzabili soltanto con impostazioni grafiche ridotte. I giochi meno pesanti (e più datati), come Fifa 08, Command & Conquer 3, o Battlefield 2142 possono essere giocati con livello di dettagli più alto.
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650: Scheda grafica di media classe per DirectX 11 con un consumo di energia in media di 15-20 Watt. Supporta Eyevision (fino a 6 monitors)
AMD Radeon HD 6630M: Il successore della versione con clock più lento (e meno potenza) della Mobility Radeon HD 5650 con più cores, processore UVD3 ed Eyefinity+.
Queste schede grafiche per portatili non sono adatte al gaming. Anche se dovessero funzionare, ci sarebbero diversi errori grafici e un frame rate molto basso. Questi chips non sono affatto per i gamers! Applicazioni internet e da ufficio, invece non sono problematiche per queste GPUs.

520M: Il Core i5-520M ha solo 3 MB di L3 Cache (rispetto alla I7-640M) ed un clock tra 2.4-2.93 GHz (Turbo Mode). Grazie all'Hyperthreading, possono essere processati 4 threads contemporaneamente. Nel pacchetto è inclusa anche una scheda grafica (GMA HD 3150) ed un controller memoria DDR3.
460M: L'Intel Core i5-460M è una CPU dual core di fascia alta per portatili ed ha un clock (grazie al Turbo Mode) da 2.53 a 2.8 GHz. Ogni core si basa sulla micro architettura Nehalem (Westemere). L'hyperthreading consente alla CPU Dual Core di gestire 4 threads contemporaneamente (per un miglior utilizzo della pipeline).
560M: Il Core i5-560M ha solo 3 MB di L3 Cache (rispetto all'I7-620M) ed un clock tra 2.67-3.2 GHz (Turbo Mode). Grazie all'Hyperthreading, 4 threads possono essere processati simultaneamente. Nel pacchetto sono incluse una scheda grafica integrata (GMA HD) ed un controller di memoria DDR3.
450M: Dovrebbe essere simile alla Core i5-520M ma senza funzioni AES.
480M: Il Core i5-480M ha solo 3 MB di L3 Cache (rispetto alla I7-620M) ed un clock tra 2.66-2.9 GHz (Turbo Mode). Grazie all'Hyperthreading, 4 threads possono essere gestiti simultaneamente. Nel pacchetto sono incluse anche una scheda grafica integrata (GMA HD) ed un controller di memoria DDR3.
2410M: Processore dual-core basato sulla architettura Sandy Bridge con una scheda grafica integrata ed un controller di memoria dual-channel DDR3. La CPU ha un clock da 2.3 GHz (Turbo Boost 2.6-2.9 GHz) e la GPU da 650 (1200 MHz Turbo).
2467M: Processore ULV a risparmio energetico con clock tra 1.6-2.3 GHz grazie al Turbo Boost. Offre una HD 3000 integrata con clock tra 350 / 1150 MHz ed un controller di memoria DDR3-1333.

720QM: Il Core i7-720QM è il Core i7 Quad più lento del 2009 ed ha un clock tra 1.6 e 2.8 GHz (grazie al Turbo Mode). Di conseguenza, il processore combina i vantaggi delle veloci CPUs single core e delle lente CPUs quad-core. Rispetto alle più veloci CPUs Core i7, la 720QM ha solo 6MB di L3 Cache.
14.0: I display da 14 pollici sono un misto tra i formati piccoli dei subnotebooks ed i 15 pollici dei display standard. La ragione per cui così tante persone preferiscono displays con dimensioni medie dipende dal fatto che tale dimensione non crea particolari problemi alla vista, non richiede troppa energia ed i portatili riescono ad avere dimensioni abbastanza compatte.

Questo subnotebook è uno dei più leggeri di tutti i portatili e può essere trasportato con estrema semplicità. Difficilmente si trovano altri modelli in questa fascia di peso.
