The HP EliteBook 8440w is an impressive 14-inch business workstation-class laptop, featuring a high-end configuration and features to give you an uncompromised work machine. The laptop is also very well built and has a very good keyboard and touchpad combo. The EliteBook 8440w sells for a price of Rs. 89,995, which is higher than mainstream business laptops like the Dell Vostro 3300 or the HP ProBook 4520s, but it comes with features and internal hardware that are superior than them. The Lenovo Thinkpad T400s is something else you might consider. If you want better portability and battery life, we recommend the Lenovo Thinkpad T400s. But if you are interested in a high-performance portable work machine, you should choose the HP EliteBook 8440w business laptop.

I have nothing but praise to heap on the HP EliteBook 8440w. It is a fast, powerful, well-built laptop that provides everything a corporate user could want. My only serious complaint about the 8440w is the weight – the laptop is far heavier than I’d like a 14 inch laptop to be. There are, of course, reasons why this laptop is heavy. However, this is built to be a mobile workstation, and the increased weight works against the mobile part of the equation.

HP has a real winner on its hands here, by most accounts. We are not certain if the company intentionally designed this machine to be a killer crossover between consumer notebooks and mobile workstations, but that's exactly what was delivered. The 14" form factor is extremely mobile, and the sub-5lb. weight makes it easy to toss in a backpack and forget about it.

HP è specializzata nello sviluppo e produzione di hardware per computing, archiviazione, networking, e  software e servizi. La principale gamma di prodotti include dispositivi per il personal computing, servers enterprise, e relativi dispositivi di archiviazione, così come diverse categorie di stampanti ed altri prodotti per l'immagine. Altri settori di produzione, includono apparecchi e sistemi per test elettronici, apparecchiature mediche, componenti allo stato solido e strumentazione per analisi chimiche. HP ha dichiarato nel 2006 ricavi per 91.7 miliardi di dollari, con questo risultato si è affermata come la principale azienda tecnologica in termini di vendite. Ridurre la distanza delle Schede Grafiche per gli utenti che vogliono utilizzare il videogiochi. I nuovi giochi dovrebbero funzionare su queste schede, ma con riduzione dei dettagli e risoluzione mediocre.

Intel Core i7:

620M: Il Core i7-620M e la CPU Dual-Core più veloce per portatili (al momento del lancio nel 2010). La 620M ha un clock tra i 2.66 ed i 3.33 GHz grazie al Turbo Mode ed all'Hyperthreading, possono essere eseguiti 4 simultaneamente. Nella confezione, Intel include anche una GPU integrata (GMA HD) ed un controller di memoria. Di conseguenza, il TDP di 35 Watt dell'intero pacchetto risulta comunque buono.

Intel Core i5:

520M: Il Core i5-520M ha solo 3 MB di L3 Cache (rispetto alla I7-640M) ed un clock tra 2.4-2.93 GHz (Turbo Mode). Grazie all'Hyperthreading, possono essere processati 4 threads contemporaneamente. Nel pacchetto è inclusa anche una scheda grafica (GMA HD 3150) ed un controller memoria DDR3.

14.0: I display da 14 pollici sono un misto tra i formati piccoli dei subnotebooks ed i 15 pollici dei display standard. La ragione per cui così tante persone preferiscono displays con dimensioni medie dipende dal fatto che tale dimensione non crea particolari problemi alla vista, non richiede troppa energia ed i portatili riescono ad avere dimensioni abbastanza compatte.

Questo portatile è più leggero rispetto alla media di tutti i notebooks. Ma è troppo pesante per essere un sub-notebooks. 
 13 pollici sono la norma per questa categoria di peso.
