EN→ITAdvising whether or not you should buy this laptop is tricky – not least because Asus has supplied us with an arguably over-specced version. The 8GB of RAM and the pair of 500GB hard drives increase the price without adding much value. We also would have liked to see whether or not a dual-core Core i7-620M would have been a better bet for gaming too, as this CPU runs at a much higher frequency than the quad-core CPU Asus specified.

EN→ITWe had high expectations for Crysis, which remains the most resource intensive Windows game – even after three years. We cranked all settings to high on 1920x1080 and had no lag at all, although it lowered frame-rates to a level just about playable - but still higher than many gaming laptops we've seen. This means that the G73J can play games COD Modern Warfare 2 without even cocking an eyebrow. But, it also shows that it’s only human after all.

EN→ITMatte-black and menacing, the design inspiration for Asus's G73 may be the technically invisible B-2 Stealth Bomber but this laptop is anything but subtle. It's big, eye-catching, the entire surface is rubberised and two enormous vents behind the screen glow a hellfire red, presumably making a visual reference to afterburners or something. If you're happy to pay the premium, it's absolutely the best choice for games right now.

EN→ITBut this isn't a laptop you buy for the battery life. You buy it for its looks, and for its power, and on both those fronts, the G73Jh is a resounding success. It won't be for everyone, but if you lack space for a desktop, you can finally play Crysis as it should be played.

EN→ITAll things considered, the impressions are very favourable. The G73J is the ultimate gaming machine, with no performance bottlenecks whatsoever, while remaining cool at all times. Although the suggested retail price of 1630€ is rather high, compared to other gaming notebooks, the G73J isn’t that expensive after all. The price-performance ratio is more than good, which means that the question isn’t really whether it’s worth it, but whether you can afford one.

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870: Scheda grafica DirectX 11 di fascia alta basata sulla desktop HD5770. Grazie al memory bus da 128 Bit, solo con memoria GDDR5 molto veloce (altrimenti si sarebbe creato un collo di bottiglia).
Queste schede grafiche sono paragonabili alle entusiasmanti schede grafiche desktop, come la 9800M GT. Le schede hanno un core simile alle relative schede desktop, ma hanno un clock inferiore e spesso hanno processori con meno ombre. I giochi moderni come Age of Conan, Race Driver Grid, Call of Duty 4, Mass Effect, o Gothic 3 dovrebbero scorrere in modo fluido con dettagli elevati (Crysis dovrebbe funzionare con dettagli medio alti).

Intel Core i7:
920XM: La CPU più veloce del 2009 nei portatili Core i7 ma con un TDP di 55 Watt che la rende assetata di energia. Grazie al Turbo Mode, la CPU può girare fino a 3.2 GHz. A causa dell'Extreme tag, il moltiplicatore non è bloccato, e di conseguenza la CPU va facilmente in overclock.

17.3": Allo stesso tempo i display da 17 pollici sono offerti più frequentemente come formato standard per i desktop-replacements. I portatili DTR non sono facili da trasportare, richiedono molta più energia ma in compenso i testi possono essere letti facilmente e le risoluzioni elevate non sono problematiche. I DTR sono principalmente destinati ad un utilizzo stazionario da scrivania, dove il peso ed i consumi non sono rilevanti.
