EN→ITIt used to be that if you wanted to get any serious PC gaming done that you needed to have a desktop computer. Later on, it became more viable to consider a gaming laptop instead, but these used to break the bank compared to desktops with equivalent specs and features. The G51Vx will never be confused for an ultra-portable. Tipping the scales at over seven pounds and measuring 14.6 x 10.3 x 1.6 inches, it’s clearly not the smallest of the bunch, but this is par for the course when it comes to most gaming notebooks. At least it’s not as massive as those 17-inch or 19-inch behemoths, right?

EN→ITOutrageous style and outrageous speed define the Asus G51VX. Of course, so does outrageous impracticality, but as a gaming notebook, that's hardly anything to be ashamed of (in fact, it's pretty much par for the course). Fortunately, for a machine of such extremes, Asus has managed to keep price decidedly down to earth. Considering how far it outperforms last year's model, $1,050 actually looks like an amazing bargain for this stellar game machine. For gamers seeking maximum frames for the buck, Asus' G51VX is hard to beat, if you can stomach the rough edges.

EN→ITThe G51Vx-A1 is meant to be a solid performer for gamers on the go, and in that it succeeds admirably. It will play anything you throw at it without a problem, and the vast majority of games can be played at maximum settings with perfectly smooth frame rates. It is also portable and has an attention-getting design. When taking the surprisingly sturdy construction, the extras included, and Asus' standard 2 year global warranty with accidental coverage for the first year, the G51Vx-A1 seems prepared to offer the likes of Sager and Alienware some solid competition in the $1500-1600 price range.

EN→ITThe ASUS G51VX-A1 gaming notebook performed quite well in our tests, easily coping with modern games at its 1080P native resolution, with the exception of Crysis. In a gaming-only setting I think users might see similar performance with a dual-core processor, instead of the quad-core this model had. It would drop power consumption as well as price. Overall the build quality was great, with the slightly too small keyboard being the only problem on our review unit. If the keyboard fit was not a problem, this notebook would definitely be very high on our list of recommended gaming systems.

EN→ITRegarding the specific models: The real steal is not the G51VX-A1 but rather the retail model, the G51VX-RX05 which sells for $1049. It ships with the slightly anemic P7350, but you still get 4GB RAM, 320GB storage, and the GTX 260M graphics. Keep in mind though that it uses a 1366×768 display so you might want to do your gaming on an external monitor. The webcam was also downgraded to 1.3MP. Regardless, this would be my pick from the G51VX series.

Its frame rates may not be as high as those produced by the Gateway P-7807u FX, but the G51Vx costs about $350 less, and its premium design is more appealing. While we prefer the Gateway for its greater horsepower, ASUS’ budget-friendly rig will leave you with more cash to spend on the latest titles.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M: La NVidia GeForce GTX 260M è la scheda grafica di fascia alta della serie 200M e si basa sul core G92b. Di conseguenza, il chip è un 9800M GTX con valore di clock leggermente superiori 550/1375/950 contro 500/1250/800. E' realizzata in tecnologia 55nm. Pertanto non è simile alla Desktop GTX 260 ma in qualche modo alla 9800 GT.
Come tutte le schede con capacità DirectX 10, la GeForce GTX 280M gestisce le immagini 3D utilizzando la "Unified Shaders". Non esistono più shaders pixel- e vertex dedicati ma 112 processori chiamati stream che fanno il lavoro grafico (fatto in precedenza dagli shaders pixel and vertex shaders). Inoltre, le unità shader hanno clock superiori rispetto al chip (1375 MHz).
Queste schede grafiche sono paragonabili alle entusiasmanti schede grafiche desktop, come la 9800M GT. Le schede hanno un core simile alle relative schede desktop, ma hanno un clock inferiore e spesso hanno processori con meno ombre. I giochi moderni come Age of Conan, Race Driver Grid, Call of Duty 4, Mass Effect, o Gothic 3 dovrebbero scorrere in modo fluido con dettagli elevati (Crysis dovrebbe funzionare con dettagli medio alti).

Intel Core 2 Quad:
Q9000: CPU quad core (4 cores) con un clock lento che soffre in particolare con molti giochi proprio a causa della lentezza del clock. Di conseguenza, non è adatto ai giochi e per le applicazioni non multi threaded.

15.6": La variante di display da 15 pollici rientra tra lo standard ed è utilizzata da più della metà di tutti i portatili. I display da 15.4 pollici in 16:10 sono lo standard per i portatili. Attualmente, sempre più appaiono i displays 16:9 da 15.6 pollici. Lo svantaggio è che la lettura di testi è estenuante per gli occhi. Risoluzioni elevate difficilmente potranno essere utilizzate.

3.3 kg: Questo peso è medio per i notebooks. Di conseguenza la numerosità di portatili con schermo da 15-16 pollici è condizionata proprio dal peso.
