A paragone del modello precedente, Asus non solo ha aumentato prestazioni e dimensioni, ma ha dotato il dispositivo di display 4K e supporto G-Sync. Grazie al raffreddamento ad acqua esterno, questo notebook targato Asus è probabilmente uno dei concept più interessanti degli ultimi due anni. Il GX700 era già un prodotto decisamente unico, e il GX800 è un degno successore.

La maggior parte degli sforzi sono stati concentrati su prestazioni e funzionalità. Non solo il numero e la capacità degli SSD sono aumentati, ma anche il numero di GPU. Seguendo il concetto di "due è meglio di uno", il notebook ora è dotato di due GPU top di gamma Nvidia. Grazie all'overclocking, sono gestibili frame rate impossibil da gestire fino ad oggi e il 4K è decisamente a portata di mano.

Il sistema SLI, però, influenza peso e consumo di energia, entrambi parecchio elevati. Il pannello UHD con supporto G-Sync e la generosa varietà di porte (USB 3.1 Type-C, Thunderbolt 3, HDMI 2.0, etc.) sono un altro vantaggio.

Il GX800 può combattere alla pari con il suo rivale dual-GPU MSI GT80S (o più precisamente, il suo successore), che ha una serie di vantaggi e difetti, ma che è basato su un concept più classico, senza raffreddamento ad acqua.
