Overall, I’m pretty pleased with the Predator 17X. It hangs right with the competition in performance and its easy-peasy 4GHz overclock ramps up performance nicely. Its fan acoustics are downright impressive, too. At stock speeds, this laptop doesn’t get annoyingly loud, and only with the CPU and GPU overclocked do the fans become noticeable. I can’t say the same for the Predator 17, which was loud under most loads.

It packs an outstanding cooling system that supports the Core i7-6820HK and GTX 980 while utilizing their full potential via overclocking. Unfortunately, there’s one downside in all of this and it can be considered as a big one for some users. The Predator 17X doesn’t have an iGPU (no Intel HD Graphics 530 inside the Core i7-6820HK) so this can mean only one thing – reduced battery life. If you recall, the standard version of the Predator 17 offered more than satisfying battery runtimes with the same 88.8Wh unit.

While the 17X retains that rigid and subjectively good looking chassis, it’s considerably heavier and bulkier. Acer Predator 17X rappresenta il top di gamma Acer di una generazione che sta per essere superata, ma che proprio per questo potrebbe merita attenzione. Il notebook gaming di Acer si conferma infatti affidabile e senza particolari punti deboli, in grado di regalare un'esperienza di gioco appagante, scendendo a pochi compromessi. Con l'ingresso in scena dei nuovi modelli con GTX Serie 10 e Kaby Lake, il fisiologico ribasso dei listini dovrebbe renderlo davvero interessante.

Our opinion of the notebook stays the same. The Predator 17X is an expensive piece of equipment offering the very best features and hardware the current industry can offer. It has excellent build quality, good keyboard and touchpad, impeccable display, which is a nice upgrade from the only Full HD version of the previous model with GTX 980 (Predator 17X (GX-791), and, of course, a solid cooling system to support it all.

Dal 2007, il gruppo si è fuso con Gateway Inc. e Packard Bell, che commercializzano anche le proprie linee di prodotti per laptop.

Processore Skylake-based quad-core per notebooks. Offre una GPU integrata HD Graphics 530 ed è realizzato in 14 nm.

Intel Kaby Lake:

i7-7820HK:

Processore quad-core per notebook basato sull'architettura Kaby Lake che gira a 2.9 - 3.9 GHz. E' il secondo modello per velocità della serie consumers H all'inizio del 2017. Il chip integra anche una GPU HD Graphics 630 con clocked da 350 - 1100 MHz ed è realizzato con processo da 14 (migliorato rispetto alla Skylake). Rispetto al Core i7-7820HQ, il 7820HK non ha features business come supporto vPro o TXT.
